Possibly unnecessary - it might even have been an idea to lure the knight onto b4 to gain tempo for a Q-side expansion by White. Capturing the centre pawn (as I think was tried in another game) looks reasonable, here, with the idea 11...Nb4 12.Kd1, where the K looks safe enough. The White rooks will mobilise on their respective sides of the board.

11....Qe8 is far to late it is better wen used earlier instead of 9....e6 nothing wrong with 9...e6 it is also good.. My best suggestion 11.....Kb6 database will say it favors white but if played well it is in blacks favor. My second best suggestion 11...Bd6 It will stall whites attack and gives you time to get your pieces out and the king safe.. Note : all lines are difficult and tricky. There is no easy way, and only a few ways that will bring your victory and many ways that bring you on the edge of defeat.

What is the motivation for this move? Protection for e6 maybe? If counterattack was in Black's mind, the Q was better off on d8.

Actually this was just carelessness, but you make it sound better.

Or developing moves like 12...Nc7 or 12...Be7, instead of the rook move. Now that the rook move has been made, maybe 13...c4 is a reasonable, if desperate try to seize the initiative: 13...c4 14.Bxc8 (why not?) 14...Bc5+ 15.Kh1 Qxc8, and Black is by no means out of the reckoning. All the same, White must have the edge after, say, 16.Ngxe4.

After 15.Nf7 Rg8 16.Ne5+ Kb6 17.Nxe4 White would have had a tremendous bind on the centre as well.

Reasonable was 29.Rb1, with a large advantage to White. Now the pendulum swings sharply in Black's favour.

And your opponent was no slow to present the bill. Bad luck for White, but it can sometimes happen that a big advantage leads to the kind of carelessness that, paradoxically enough, sometimes accompanies overcaution. Incidentally, Black deserves some commendation for making the most of his dire situation to create possibilities for himself. That's how to defend a difficult game. In checking out a possible 29.Rf4 defence (?! I think 29.Rb1 sufficient and good) I found this possibility: 29.Rf4?! Rxf4 30.Bxf4 Ne5 31.d4 Qb6 ..., pinning the d-pawn. Now suppose White presses the matter: 32.c5? Qb2! and Black gets a terrific attack: 33.Nf2 Nf3+ 34.Kf1 (Not 34.Kh1??) 34...Qb5+! 35.Nd3 Qxd3+ etc.
