!! A queen fork is also rare. I have never been able to play a bishop fork, but this is brilliant. In this position, white wins a free rook because he plays 24.Bxc4, after black gets out of check. As I had mentioned earlier, white is more then just a piece ahead. First, he captured a major piece, the rook. Second, white is now three points ahead. Third, black will not be able to find a mating pattern, so quickly.

White is now easily winning.

Being a piece ahead means having a bishop or knight more. When you are only a pawn up, you don't say that you are a piece ahead.

This is not bad, but I am not so crazy about this move. 24...Re4 would have been blacks best move. That way, white would be forced to retreat his LSB, so white would loose a move.

Ultimately, this loses a pawn.

?, not ?!. In this position, white could respond with 27.a3. If this happens, black will be forced to retreat his DSB, so he would waste a move.

White can simply ignore this good-for-nothing threat by playing 27.Bf4.

29.b4 won a piece but is still possible.

29. b4 runs into 30...Bxb4!

! At this point white might be trying to find a mating pattern against black. If white continues to play this well, he might find a mating pattern against black.

! You are wrong. This is not a sacrifice. Black cannot play 31...gxf5, due to whites LSB on e6. Don't forget that it is not a good idea for black to exchange because he behind and, "lacking in material", as they say.

This is cool: 31...gxf5 (if not, than the Rook is free to move about) 32.Bf4+.

b4 is still a threat.

This is ok, but this is a, "nuisance check", as they say, so it was not whites best move. That is because white just a wasted move. 32.Bxf5, would have been whites best move, but this also works.

White will now have a highly dangerous Bishop pair, which hurts Black for the rest of the game.

He should win from here.

Yes, jkarp white has a extra bishop and 2 pawns. 3+1+1=5.  

Probably to avoid the b4 pawn fork which you missed for several moves.

@I-d-j:this makes perfect sense. If black did not make this move, he would have been forced to retreat his DSB, due to whites b2 pawn. BTW, I am implying 34.b4.

White has just found an inevitable mating sequence against black  . At this point, black's king will be chased around, and that will eventually lead to a mate.

! This still works because black is now forced to retreat his DSB. However, Re8+ would have been white's best move. As I had mentioned earlier, this would directly lead to a mating. On the other hand, you can still play Re8+, after black retreats his DSB.

This is now a terrible position for black. At this point, black should retreat his bishop because white is ahead, so 41...Bxb8 is not a good idea.
