IS GOD MORE IMPORTANT THAN FATHER CHRISTMAS?life's but a walking shadow,a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon he stage, And then is heard no more, It is a tale told by an idiot, Full of sound and fury SIGNIFYING NOTHING Macbeth Why do childish beliefs-fairies-ghosts-Gods persist into adulthood in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. Could it be that there is something in the human psyche -almost an imperative which requires us to believe in a God when there is no empirical evidence-no reason whatsoever, except for our own comfort or because of our own misplaced self importance to so believe.Anyway if there was a God why should he grant us eternal life? Everyone who has ever lived-in the past -present and the future billions indeed trillions of human kind of all ages and conditions of humanity? Then we come to purpose, we can see a short term purpose in our existence on this planet-simply to pass on our genes to the next generation thus insuring the survival of our species .In heaven however with no procreation and no death we have a completely static situation .This is ultimately utterly boring and pointless. Our life is all about struggle and without it life is utterly meaningless.
