Question on club membershipabsent the obvious reasons that would cause removal from any GK club (vulgar language, abuse/harassment, etc.) Are there other grounds - specifically grounds that would not apply to another club? I certainly hope not, but don't want to assume that. |

"club rules" in the thread called "Procedures and Guidelines of the Bible Discussion Club" without ever mentioning what the club rules are. |

The club rules and removal of members This is covered in the other thread entitled “Procedures and Guidelines of the Bible Discussion Club”. I copy this here for ready reference. CLUB RULES. 1. The conduct of the Club is governed by the Gameknot standard detailed on the Gameknot site. These may be accessed by means of the “Rules” link (Click on “clubs”, find FAQ) 2. Management of the site will vest in the Founder and Moderators. The Founder is also a Moderator for all purposes. 3. Club rules may be amended by majority vote of the Moderators. 4. In the event of conflict or breach of rules (both Gameknot and Club) by any club member, two or more Moderators working in agreement may take such action as they deem appropriate. Rule 1 above refers to the standard Gameknot rules for clubs. Rules 2 to 4 provide a basis for the administration of this particular club and to provide the ways and means to make amendments in the light of experience. Now for the specific reference to the existence of other rules which would not apply to any other club. At present there are no other additional rules (certainly none which would set us apart from any other club), although if a need arises additional rules may be considered. At the moment I have not seen any such need and no-one has raised a problem, but should anyone see a need they can submit the perceived problem to any Moderator and this will be considered. The question refers specifically to the removal of someone from the club. I removed one member from the club a few days ago, but this was not a removal as perhaps is envisaged by the question, i.e. a forcible removal. This person was removed from the club after he sent me a clear message to that effect. This person was unhappy that I would not delete another member’s posting, and concluded his message with the words “Most definitely, yes, and I am leaving the club”. In view of his determination to censure other member’s postings, I believe that was the right decision. There must be the means for Moderators to remove members from the club (e.g. using the club to propagate doctrine which fails to respect the Club’s Statement of Faith) and this is covered by Rule 4 but as the initative in the above case came from the former club member, this would not have applied in that instance. |
