myth of JobThere was a special word they used in English to describe a Christ story and Job story, Noah and creation myths too.My memory is going.Just because something has mythological significance doesn't mean it isn't the gospel truth either- it is just examining the impact something(in these case bible stories) and compare them with others and see how one influenced the other.Never for a minute do I claim it is not true.At the moment I believe I am a Gnostic(that should be a little g; even the auto correct is prejudiced) Christian in the original Greek sense of the word, seeking a gnosis with God through christ.Pre-Nicean, pre Scofield, Merovingian.Even more of a Vandal than a Roman. When religion became politics it ceased to be the gospel.I believe in the Gospel |

sticism in As defined by Dictionary.com, a Gnostic would be a member of any of certain sects among the early Christians who claimed to have superior knowledge of spiritual matters, and explained the world as created by powers or agencies arising as emanations from the Godhead. If you are simply stating you are gnostic, then this would mean you are possessing knowledge, especially esoteric knowledge of spiritual matters. I would say, the Gospel does not change in spite of Religion or Politics. Paul states in Gal1:11-12 11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. 12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. Of course the question is just what is the Gospel? Paul answers from 1Cor15:1-4 1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, There is no secret, hidden nor special meaning to the Gospel, it is spelled out in plain language which is discernible by anyone who can read and understand the text. We have the Holy Spirit to guide and teach use, so any "special knowledge" which early Gnosticism taught was not correct. We see most of the early Church Fathers writing against Gnosticism in its various forms such as Docetism, Marcion, Montanus and others. I quote the following from www.churchhistory101.com Gnosticism In the early second century a strange movement began to emerge, more strongly concentrated in Egypt, but with pockets of activity throughout the Roman world. Gnosticism was a curious synthesis of Jewish apocalypticism, Platonism, strains of pagan religions, and early Christianity. There are some indications of an early form of first century gnosticism in the NT, but nothing like what developed in the second century. Some scholars want to date various NT documents into the second century based on the apparent references to gnosticism. When one says they are Gnostic or beliefs are gnostic, there needs to be clarification to avoid a broad brush application of the heresies. Blessing, Len |

reply to your commentDuring my younger days I read the bible and the book of Mormon, the baghvad -Gita,the Jew holy books(Talmud and Torah) as well as the Koran and Hadiths and the sura's.I discovered Jews and Muslims(religions) are just as evil as one another. In the respective "holy" books of their religion it states clearly that anyone who is not one of them( a Jew or a Muslim)is lower than an animal and it would not be a sin to enslave, rape ,or murder the under-mensch.I thank God for the gospel and Christ everyday who is the true author of liberty. Thanks for keeping the conversation going .I have a lot of pain and must stop for now but look forward to learning more from you!! best regards your friend Steven Whitener |

Sorry I have not been able to answer your post as I have been very busy with the summer. You have brought up several issues and it is difficult to deal with them in one post. I am not familiar with the “book about the cabin in the woods which you said was ok to explain the trinity”. First step would be to open up a discussion about the Trinity and the scripture foundation which teaches it. The second issue would be the Sabbath and why it is celebrated on Sunday in the Christian church. Again, if you wish we could open a discussion concerning it, my good friend Shirley would love to help out on this one I am sure Anyway, please let me know which one you would like to discuss first. In the name of the Mighty Son and blessing from upon high, Len |
