The Daily Message - Seasonal "Specials"Thought for the Day: For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6,7 Today is the day of anticipation, and imagine living in the days prior to 586 B.C., when Israel went into exile in Babylon. They had received in the promise of the Messiah who would come, and they waited with great anticipation, looking forward to the day when He would be born, the Son from the line of King David, who would rule and reign over them forever. But then, the exile came, they were in a foreign land, knowing their Temple was gone, totally destroyed, along with their hopes and dreams. In accordance with God’s promises, at the end of seventy years, God’s people returned to the Promised Land, and the Temple was rebuilt; but still the Messiah, the Deliver, did not come; and still they waited in faith, and hoped, and dreamed of His coming. Saints, we too await His coming, His Second Advent, and like our forefathers, we wait in faith, we hope and dream of His return. Dear ones, today, let’s spend some time identifying with our forefathers as we too, as they did, wait, hope, and dream, our faith in His promise not one bit diminished. |

Isaiah 9:6,7Thought for the Day: Now it came about in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:1-7 The Lord Jesus, the Messiah, the One prophesied from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:15), had come, the Child had been born, the Son had been given as Isaiah had prophesied, recorded in Isaiah 9:6; and the angels announced the Good News to the shepherds who hurried to Bethlehem to see the baby as He lay in the manger; and the wise men from the east saw the star and began their journey, seeking the One born King of the Jews (Matthew 2:1-12). Dear ones, as we celebrate His birth today, rejoicing that our God became a Man, to live among us and then die to redeem us from sin, allow the wonder, the mystery, the incredible love of our God to fill, flood, surround us anew, reminding ourselves that it is possible for us to experience love because He first loved us (I John 4:19). Love became a man, a human being like us – could there be a greater miracle? We do, indeed, have cause to celebrate, to rejoice, to seek a deeper relationship with Him through daily study of His Word, spending time in prayer, sharing that Good News! |

For the new year... Ezekiel 11:19-20Thought for the Day: And I shall give them one heart, and shall put a new spirit within them. And I shall take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God. Ezekiel 11:19,20 This wonderful promise of restoration was spoken through the prophet Ezekiel, when the people of Israel were in exile, far from their homeland, unable to worship Him in the beautiful Temple King Solomon had built and around which their lives revolved. When we look at the state of our world today, we realize spiritual revival, restoration from our God, new hearts and new spirits, are our only hope. Saints, let’s meditate on this promise of our God, praise Him that He sees our world in its present spiritual poverty, and loves His own with a love which will never lessen. Let’s make a new commitment today to spend time daily in studying His precious word and in prayer for the deep spiritual needs of those around us, living in obedience to His word, renewing our hope and trusting Him for the restoration He longs to bring to our hearts and the nations of His world |
