A cartoon..
Well, that's one question I've always asked myself: if ever we meet aliens, and they have a different deity which they also fervently believe in, which deity is the right one? If they have holy scripture going back 5 000 or 8 000 years with teachings and guidance of a god, but a different god, which they claim to be the true savior? Our religious foundations will be broken down in 10 seconds flat. How do we decide which god to pray to? Especially if proof of their god is more tangible.... Any learned theologians out there who can answer that?

the trouble with monotheism
is it does not allow for anyone else's point of view. If you do not believe in our god your are an infidel and destined to burn forever. Ermm that style of thought it a little too medieval Spanish inquisition for my liking. I go with the universe is one idea, a bit like Zen Buddhism, everything is interconnected. I am all for enlightenment and spiritual journeys but as a person who knows myself I would rather believe in what I feel is right rather than what someone tells me, I mean if you believed in what someone told you and they were lying where does that then put you. I've always believed in some form of creation just don't buy into the monotheistic view of heaven and earth, for me these religions we products of their time and more to do with socio-geographical, military and economic drivers rather than divine doctrine. Now if I am wrong I will have to ace up to this mistake but I think I will take my chances, after all a divine being that only selected a few people to join them in heaven because they worshipped them regardless of how they lived their lives is probably not what I would define as divine.

Right on the button!
Well, looking where the urge for religion in the brain originates, it seems clear to me that the deities we worship here on earth are likely to be created by man self. From what I understand there is an area in the brain that drives us to believe in divinity. I've read some books on this (admittedly, I am not a neurologist and rely on the opinions and studies of others) and the God-impulse can be controlled: switched on and off, in a laboratory. I understand that the God-impulse originates in a primitive part of the brain, and according to people who know this subject better than myself, it can be explained by evolution why this part of the brain survived. Somehow it was an advantage for the survival of the primitive brain. It seems plausible to me. I firmly believe there is a God somewhere, but my God is not jealous, punishing whole nations by obliteration, or take sides in war (interesting that every side in war or competition always think that God is on their side, isn't it?) My god does not punish my soul in everlasting fire, or send sickness and death. My god does not blame, nor do I blame my god, for mishaps in my life. And my god let science prevail. Besides, looking back at history, religion is the cause of great misery and suffering. Not just Christians, Muslims and Catholics, but other religions all over the world.... Inca, Maya, Sun worship in Egypt 4 000 years ago, everywhere all over history.

I can't say I am a fan of the catholic faith
While it is good for people to believe in god to me the Roman catholic church is just an extension of the Roman empire and the pope is a modern Caesar. Can't agree with their position on contraception, disease, views on homosexuality, sexless priests, child abuse cover ups, the wealth of the church and how the pope is the only guy to have a direct line to god. The whole organisation is about power and politics. Its hardly in keeping with what Jesus was meant to have died on a cross for.

A great Danger is growing in America
Because of the scourge of Christian fundamentalism. (nothing to do with the Catholic or protestant church) Growing all the time in political influence. They are determined to undermine the 'separation of church and state'. Forcing there ultra-biblical beliefs on all. Anti-abortion(even in cases of incest, rape,or the health of the Mother'. Forcing schools to teach Biblical creation instead of Evolution and Science.(very much like the Muslim Taliban). Even using 'birth control' is frowned upon and considered an insult to God. They have allied themselves with the Conservative party and are changing Laws in Many states by virtue of controlling both houses of there States legislature. Gay marriage and even just being Gay is hated by these ruthless fundamentalists. They believe that the World is ending soon and Christ is coming. So they will do all they can to speed it up. They believe a great Nuclear War is coming. They believe(a large majority) that Obama 'is' the anti/Christ. Can you imagine such people controlling the US atomic arsenal?. All this i have mentioned is a growing Danger to all peoples of the world. God help us.

Have you seen there will be blood
With Daniel Day Lewis, I think the character Elijah in that is very reflective of when priests go wrong. I know in the Caribbean they have real problems with abortion particularly when there is incest or rape and the woman cannot get rid of the child. Its so very sad and a crime against humanity.

My prayer:
God, please save me from your followers....

I have found
Some people who profess to have the most faith in god are the most godless. Maybe I am a natural sceptic in certain people's true motives.
