Straight into it aye?
latest update on that is GK has been informed. I've personally lodged a report on this, so i guess we will no sum more goss in a week or so. Ive let a few of the Captains that I'm close with know about this, I've also had sum private msg's from captains asking who? and how? id prefer it, if for time being his name was left outa any thread. i would like to c what GK come back with as a response. If there's any captains or co captains on here that is curious u can send me MSG, keeping it private till a decision has been given from the powers above. Was a super comment thou u got in return Jack. Say his son did play those games, He was still happy enough to set games up for himself against guys in the low 1200s. Pretty krafty

Hmm!!
YEAH, He has been disqualified from playing team games! Not sure how that works for his Team then. He must be still able to organise games but just not include himself. Its a good thing that Gk have acknowledged it & r taking the time to have a look at the situation. I don't feel real good about being a dobber, but u know aswel as the other captains how much time & effort goes into Ur Team. I just hope that all ends well. Officially i haven't heard back from Gk About it, but have been informed by a few Captains

I am curious as
to how GK will answer you. I have tried on a couple of occasions to contact them and basically never hear from them. I can understand it if I wasn't a paying member. Please let me know if you get any feed back from GK on this captain that seems to be circumventing the rules here. Don

This forum brings up a good point and my question is how does an inexperienced captain such as myself pinpoint a cheater? would love some feedback. thanks!

Honestly the only reason i picked up on it was Ive been on here for a few yrs now & Ive got a cupla new co caps still learning the ropes. when i get on line i run my eye ova the matches that my guys accept or setup. this captain set up teams games for himself with my co caps to accept. My guys didn't know any different. the other captain had a low rating & his 90 day rating was low aswel. I knew this guy was rated higher, so it grabbed my eye. i checked his past game history to see if it was timeouts or anything else that would cause his rating to be low, this is when i saw how he was trying to manipulate his ratings to gain an advantage in team games. This is the only time I've come across it personally, although i have heard of it happening. Ive still had no response from Gk, but i understand he has been suspended from entering into Team Matches until he has time to respond

Honest answer is - you don't. but by being involved in these conversations you'll learn. I say, the DEVIL is ALWAYS in the DETAILS. You can learn details from all these guys. and it will help your captain knowledge. Also do not be afraid to pm others and just ask for some insight. I've learned there are a lot of nice people that "know".

Talk about which, I am not sure but suspect that another captain might be cheating, but in a much worse way, then just deliberately losing games. I saw a rumor about a dishonest team, that a member was removed for not using a search engine, as the game ended in a draw, as opposed to, a win. Later on, I looked at a past team match, between my team, and the other team, that is suspected of cheating. Of the two people that I matched up (so four games), the opposing team won three of those games, and made moves that I almost never see. BTW, there are still a couple of active matches between my team, and the opposing one. In addition, it is extremely difficult to tell, if someone used a chess engine or not, which is, perhaps one of the only reasons that I have not reported the captain of that team. In addition, I did not suspect anything, until the rumor.

@sad-but-true
What happens if you report someone because you suspect that he or she is cheating, but your suspicions are wrong. Would you get in trouble?

The question is, how do I enter it, via PM, and what does PM mean, in this context?

PM - Private Message. id be talking to other captains first to see what they think. if there is somebody ur sus on, sometimes running past a cupla other ppl can help. Try PM the captain about it. At the end of the day if u want to take it to the end .. Send a Private Msg to Mr Gameknot. Give them some reasons y u think, then let them deal with it. Generally thou it can be sorted out between the 2 parties P.S the player that this thread was started on is actually back playing. So GK must have thought we were wrong .. Go Figure!

"made moves I've never seen". Must have been in a team match against Southern Chess on a Saturday night. ( sometimes we play drinking games, and chess, at the same time.) Cheaters only beat themselves, glad the scoundrel got taken care of.

@graderguy
This might sound weird, but it is very hard to tell, if someone is cheating. If you are to report it, Gameknot will only act in your favor, if you have concrete evidence that someone cheated, not Oh, I suspect that he or she is cheating. The reason that Gameknot thought that captains were incorrect was that they suspected that the captain was cheating, but there was not enough concrete evidence for the staff to find them guilty.

Actually its very easy to tell if someone is cheating. The player your talking about had a pretty clear pattern. People think cheating is consulting a computer to make moves... Ok, sure, that works. But what if a player willfully throws games against the community to move his rating down and then accepts team games that he's under rated... and you guessed it.. CRUSHES the competition. Is it cheating? I'd say so. The guy that I knew was doing this... was suspended. Hopefully he learned his lesson. I'm sure others have done it as well. I mean every time SBT beats me, I flip off the screen and yell C-HEETA. This just might be my own issues tho... haha!
|
|
haha, that's Ur own issues bro .. i get inside Ur head. the only real thing u can use to beat crabs is an ointment from the chemist .. lol i only wish i could beat u in both games of the match. im working on that

Can someone send me a PM and tell me which captain is cheating, Thanks

My views on talking about cheating are probably contrary to some. If we are limiting the talk to cheating at chess; I feel it is inappropriate to discuss the problem in a forum such as this. If you suspect someone is cheating PM other captains, and let GK know. By getting into specifics of how people cheat, it just leads to more cheating. It is kinda like when you are watching the news, and they start talking about the latest scam or way to swindle someone, aren't they just giving others a clever way to accomplish the same thing? Or when they tell how law enforcement are going about stopping some sort of crime, aren't they tilting the balance in favor of the criminals. If someone is cheating, get a consensus together and report him/her, what is the big deal, if they ain't cheating no foul, if they are, mission accomplished. Momma always said "fix what is broke, but don't leave the hen house door open"
