Looking for help on my team
I figure if any of us are looking for help on our teams we should have a thread on it.... well here goes my plea ...

I'm looking for a couple co-captains and a few coaches to help out my team. thanks in advance. ; )

There is never an easy way to go about this... As I'm sure you know, a potential Co Captain must have a premium membership of the higher echelon (I forget how these are ranked)... From there, they have to want the job, once you explain what it entails.

I know one of my Co Capn's, did not want this at first... If I recall correctly, I just upgraded him to Co Cap'n anyway! It's worked out well and Porko is a heckuva leader. In this instance, I just went with a hunch.

Click on your TEAMS link. From there, click on MANAGE YOUR TEAM. Try upgrading your players to Co Cap'n, for the sole purpose of determining who is eligible. Once you know who is eligible, try and sell them on the job.

If they are not interested OR if they are not able due to membership status, you're gonna have ta recruit more peeps on yer team...(Premium subscribers) Tedious, YES. Running a team takes a lot of work. It's time consuming... You'll get it done.

Just so ya know, this topic comes up a lot, so yer far from being alone.

thanks a lot mrmarmalade! And yes it's a lot of work. i have one cocaptain but he is new to this and its hard to explain it to him especially right now because i am going on vacation next week. so right now i am teaching him the basics. i would LOVE to get a couple of experienced co-captain not only to join us but to STAY around awhile and work with me side by side to make this is a really good team. thanks for your suggestions i look forward to more!

The Crabs are a big team and I can't imagine how much time is spent keeping it going. I appreciate all the work Sad-But-True & the others go through and I have never timed out a team game. I don't want that big carpenter throwing a hammer at me, even if I am halfway around the world from him.

You bet, Checkmatecaptain... I like to think of myself as Charles "Lucky" Luciano in these parts... He was the mafioso 'Boss of bosses.'

Recently, the council voted me in as "Boss of Captains." All the major five-family chess captains agreed this title was most befitting.

I have already ordered 'hits' on a few team managers... Gotta get people "in line," so to speak.

I was thinking of setting up a meeting in Apalachin NY, to discuss business... I am sending for Sad_ but_true, Bearz, JohnClark, Brianinpdx and Pennsylvaniadan.

I may be a little late, so just hang out and wait for me.

La Cosa Pirate.

But you have to give Mr. M credit for coming up with actually shanghaiing a co-captain by randomly promoting the members.

Well you can't just promote the players. they have to want to be co-captain. you can just check if they meet the criteria but that's all it does. lol

I guess they are allowed to accept or decline a promotion. Maybe Mr.M can include eliminating that option in his next list of enhancements to the site's administration.

Lol @ JClark.

Actually it's hard because there's a lot the co-captain should know before he dives into the job and I just don't have the time to teach right now, that's why i am looking for an experienced player to take the job.

A good idea would be to possibly get a traveling co-captain. one that goes from team to team and helping where he/she is needed. lol ok i haven't had my coffee yet but you know what I mean. lol

Beware of the "travelling" co-captain. there is often a reason they HAVE to "travel"

I knew a few of them myself and they are good guys. Just saying it's hard to teach a new one .

Yes, it is hard to teach someone how to be compatible with your system. I realize that I had to learn through trial and error and from other teams when I started out being a captain and I am still learning. But to try to articulate all of the intricacies to another person... not an obvious task.

I'm only in one club, this one. i like to keep my loyalty and my attention on one thing at a time. lol! Or else I get too confused too easily. : D
