100 m, relay and diving. I'd like to see Bolt break another record, or at least get gold.

I was listening to an interview today with a lady from Britain who wrote a book about the post-war Olympics hosted by London. All of the regular event tickets cost a shilling. The big events were just over a pound and cigarette, whiskey and beer producers were the big sponsors. I wonder if this year's London Olympics will be much the same?

I have a good friend....
whose niece is competing in the 50m Women's swimming. That's what I'll be watching closely. But actually I watch all the sports. That's really something since I ordinarily don't care for watching sports. But the olympics are just different somehow.

As long as Australia wins no medals, I'm happy; Crabs n Tritons come from them parts.

I will google Lochte in the a.m.

Awesome day for Australia, that was! I guess that all that didgeridoo playing with its cyclical breathing must help in the pool, too. Anyway, that's what comes from breeding pirates with dolphins. LOL!

I've got tickets to see the relays on august 11, and I can't wait!

Men's sprint relay, mile relays, women's high jump, men's javelin, medal ceremonies. I hope to see Bolt and the Jamaica sprint relay team break another world record....

Relays are exciting because anything can happen. Why, I even remember once in Atlanta, the Canadian men's 4x4 beat the favoured American team. Just goes to show that our Jamaicans were faster than theirs that day.

SBT, of course I do NOT recall that incident as Pirates don't watch men in underwear competing in pools.

-I think I'm most excited about The Who, performing the closing ceremonies... A Pirate always catches up with them, when in NY.

MM, you get a 10 for that one, too funny!

The Ausi wasn't wearing any underwear, he was wearing body spandex to control his body shape and make him more streamline. Nevertheless that was a great race.

24-Jul-12, 14:17

@Thumper, how do you know he wasn't wearing any underwear under the spandex?
mrmarmalade
24-Jul-12, 14:34

Thumper is an expert on all things relating to "man anatomy."
kneilca2
24-Jul-12, 15:27

Good to know in case any anatomy debates "pop" up.

Opening ceremony this evening....

Im a BIG Thunder's basketball fan, and we have 3 or 4 on the US team - you can bet I'll be watching that!!! Its funny tho, one of the team members was from Spain and is playing on their team for the olympics.

Plus The Heat spanked the Thunder in the big game this year, up against Labron James, now they are playing on the same team... must take some real flexibility.
Love the swimming & gymnastics too

GO Team USA!!!

I quite enjoyed the opening ceremony...anyone else saw it?
catzlaw
28-Jul-12, 07:58

@ mikesiva
Yes! It was impressive, very different than I expected it would be... I just watching the mens bike race and saw the wipeout.... ouch!

Opening ceremonies were awesome! I liked them quite a bit. And I agree with Catzlaw; they were very different than what I would have expected too. It was non-aggressive and healthy. England did a helluva job!

I watched the rerun of it at work----I thought it was very good but what was did that big baby represent, it didn't seem to fit in and all the announcers said was it was kind of creepy---

I watched the opening ceremony with my kids and I have to say, it was kinda strange. Don't get me wrong.. there where parts that where very cool (like the torch part in the end), but at one point my kids dove their heads under the pillows when black monsters came flying out. This thing had some creepy undertones to it.
