Nope. Not alligators, either. Still about 10 mi/hr top speed. There is some disinformation out there. Galloping is not necessarily as fast as a horse.

One of my more embarrassing moments was using information I read on from a Wikipedia article to support a certain point I was making. When I returned to the article for citation specs, it had changed.

My source was the venerable Bathroom Reader. It is usually accurate, but I can see how this one could get confused. So-called "galloping" crocodiles actually gallop like a horse, but no where nearly as fast.
