As requested by thumperA few of the posted items are noteworthy for various reasons I think: "...SAF Sues Over Missouri Ban On CCW By Legal Resident Aliens The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a Canadian citizen who is a legal resident of Missouri, challenging that state’s statutory prohibition on the carrying of concealed firearms by non-citizens..." Will this win because of precedent set in Massachusetts? "...SAF Wins Case in Massachusetts, Striking Down Gun Ban For Legal Aliens A Federal District Court Judge in Massachusetts today granted summary judgment in a Second Amendment Foundation case challenging that state’s denial of firearms licenses to permanent resident aliens. .." Could this one now go to the Supreme Court and become nationwide/federal, or is it strictly a state level ruling? "...SAF, NRA Sue Washington State for Discriminating Against Alien Residents The Second Amendment Foundation, joined by the National Rifle Association, today filed a lawsuit in federal court against the State of Washington, seeking to overturn a state law that discriminates against legal resident aliens who own firearms by violating their Second Amendment rights under the equal protections affirmed by the 14th Amendment..." This one is particularly interesting (as I am an outsider looking in) as it specifically mentions the 14th amendment which covers equal rights (I think). Is it not stated somewhere in the Constitution that ONLY citizens have the right to bear arms between the ages of...................(can't remember the rest)? Or was that changed over time? |
