Asking for help
More proof that we aren't the only intelligent life on this planet.

I saw this and almost posted it myself yesterday. It has always amazed me that dolphins KNOW we are intelligent. Seems odd we dont notice them that way most of the time. I can think of very few wild animals that will allow themselves to be approached by humans.

We should be working to develop some form of translation device so we can 'talk' with them. They obviously have a language beyond body language that we should be able to decipher. Imagine how such a thing would change people's perception of our world and the creatures in it.

People like to dream of the stars and finding other intelligent life 'out there' in the cosmos but can't even recognise it, or ignore it, right here.

... excellent video. One can certainly wonder about their cognitive abilities ... amazing!

I think they actually do have people working on that. I have a video at the house called 20 years with the dolphins. A group of biologist spent 20 years communicating and deciphering their language. Good stuff. They had a one dollar sale at walmart so I picked it up.

I have 'wild' animals on my property that 'allow' me to get quite close to them though I avoid doing so deliberately. How amazing is it for an injured wild animal to willfully approach a human, actually seeking assistance?

That dolphin didn't just allow the divers to approach him, he approached the divers. Asking for help, understanding that they could help. I've even heard about wild dolphins going out of their way to protect and defend humans against apex sea predators, even at their own risk. Are they actively trying to communicate with us?

That reminds me
We aren't the only ones that can help. I have another video about mountain gorillas (also on sale for 1.00) There is a part where a dog has been snared by a trap. The dog is in agony hanging from a tree. The gorillas set him free. You can see that they know they are risking being bitten by the dog but do it anyway to set the dog free.

No sh**? That's awesome! I definitely have to get those videos. '20 years with the dolphins'. You have a title for the other one?

This one was "Gorillas From the Heart of Darkness" as seen on national geographic I even found a link for you.

This can probably be found really cheap as I got it new for a buck. I actually got a stack of these DVDs from walmart as they were all a dollar.
