That wasn't a random tangent. It was me responding to this:
"The differences between the Catholic Church and the Church of England (or Anglican if one prefers) is not so great as some might think."

followed by this....

"The 'religious' bodies within the two churches may well be more inclined to re-combine."

You can find these quotes located right at the bottom of your post with the 18:41 time stamp.

So we're clear....those are YOUR quotes. You said those things, and I responded to them.

Regarding what you said in your most recent post..... The Anglican Church is a Protestant Church. It's the same thing. "Protestant" is the word that describes Christians who are NOT Roman Catholic. There are people who call themselves "Anglican Catholics". They are still Protestant, not Catholic.

The DEFINING feature of Protestantism is a rejection of nearly everything that Roman Catholics consider sacred and important, as outlined above. Therefore, Protestants are frequently (and understandably) unaware of the major differences between their church and the Roman Catholic church. They assume that the two are similar just because they are both Christian.

Due to these differences and the fact that Protestants and Catholics live amongst one another, Protestants are far more likely to unknowingly offend a Catholic. It happens all the time actually. I had a young kid ask me what was on my forehead yesterday while I was in line at CVS. I said "ashes because it's Ash Wednesday." She said "are you Jewish??" to which I replied "no I am Christian, I go to church..." and then her mom started explaining to her why her church doesn't "do" ash wednesday.

Anyway, your statement about the Protestant and Roman Catholic churches re-combining is just ridiculous. There's nothing to re-combine. It's like saying that the Jews and Catholics could someday re-combine.
