 This is a big deal
This seems like something that is 100% preventable. Beginning with the establishment of a blast zone in the event of an explosion like this. The fertilizer company should have owned all of that land and no other structures should have been built on it.

... when I saw the videos on TV, I thought about McVeigh's fertilizer event and went on to think that other fertilizer companies' buildings could endure similar accidents or even become deliberate targets ... which led to a similar thought as you about what these companies do "just in case."
I haven't heard their side of the story yet or what acts of prevention might be considered.

Yeah
Someone I know thinks it was deliberate and the result of criminal activity or terrorism. I have no idea. Seems like it will probably take a while to get to the bottom of.
That blast must have been massive. Yikes.
