The Chit Chat Thread!
Hi everyone!

I hope you are all having a nice day!

Now that there is a fine gaggle of us chessic geese I will now start a thread which involves general chit chat.

I guess, now that with Christmas coming up then maybe we could all have a bit of rhubarb on our plans for this annual, joyous, festive event or other matters?

Anyhow, I will leave you all to chew on that one.

Kind regards and bye for now.

Prince William and Kate Middleton!
Hi everyone!

This morning, William and Kate visited Cambridge. Me and some work colleagues who were given permission to see the royal couple went to see them and I shook hands with Kate!

If nothing is exciting enough, I now have a job. In my job, I run back and forth to take care of customers needs.

Können or sprechen Sie Deutsch?
Hi everyone!

Does anybody speak and understand German? This may be a great help as having an interpreter who could translate for us could lead to us gaining one number International Master for our Club!

Kind regards

Meine Großeltern waren deutsch und es war wichtig für mich, es zu verstehen. Ich kenne etwas Deutsches, aber Sachen klingen möglicherweise zu ihm schon merkwürdig.

Grüsse zu unserem neueun Member
Ich kann es auch ein bischen aber, als für schachtechnische Wörter wird's vielleicht etwa schwierig. Sowieso, alle zusammen, solten wir durch.
It' really exciting. I improve my Chess and my english, here on Gamekot, I'll soon improve my german as well and then what more is about to come ?

Now,

for normal small talk my English should reach

But as you said ,ptitroque, chesstechnical words, perhaps difficult coherence, not only in chess, but rather across-the-board (i use the word board   sometimes my english is not so exactly as i wants it to have

It is sometimes very sad for me, if i will tell something in English, and i have to notice, that i can´t translate this ! If it is only one word, i can use google translation, but google translation
is not good to use by complete sentences and difficult coherences !

So was it meant, as i told Joanne, my English is too bad to be a Club Member !

Have a nice day,
Klaus

@klaus willkommen.
I told Klaus that one of the best things to me on gameknot was that one can meet people from all around the world and it would be sad if he couldn't join only for a language problem as for the technical vocabulay, I'm willing to make a little lexic if necessary. There are several players in this club who speak german so that he can ask if ther is something in the chats he doesn't understand.

i can help translate also
I had no problem understanding Klaus when we played two games. I am also good at inflections, I think that is 'Beugungsformen' in German.
klauno

The German Word "Beugungsformen" is part of Google translation, too. No German speaking Human ever would use this Word as translation for infections
Without to want, you brought exactly that, what i try to explain, to the point !

Noone would understood you, because "Beugungsdormen" perhaps only would be used from teachers or so. This word describes a material, which is elastic !
Meant was, that you understood me, although i speak bad English. The correct translation can be " interpretation " the same as in English

Kind regards
Klaus

I hope you have all had a Happy Easter!
Hi everyone!

I hope you have all enjoyed those Easter eggs, when you have all managed to tear yourselves away from the chessboard!

Me and my family went on the Ongar to Epping Forest Railway - we also got an old fashioned double decker bus from North Weald to the town of Epping itself - lovely oldy worldy place.

Hope you have all managed to do something nice despite the Big Freeze that is plaguing GB at the moment!

Anyhow, back to work again!

Kind regards

Easter and chess
I followed every game of the candidates tournament in London so I didn't manage to stay away from the chessboard!

For the rest I didn't do much for Easter except dinner with the family, and now that the fun is over I need to focus on exams..

Chess Tournament London
Good for you Sonata...I wish I had more time to watch it. It was viewed by more than 500,000 people. It appears Carlson lucked out since both he and Kramnick lost their last games. I read Carlson was tired and was watching Kramnick's board and not paying much attention to his own. He's somewhat lucky to be playing this fall vs Anand since had Kramnick won his last game, he would have been the challenger. Very strange ending to the tournamant.
