15. ... Qb6I guess my thought process behind the move was "please take this!!" I knew, if he traded and my knight on d7 took it'd be a minimal advantage. Plus, it seemed like a free tempo move because his queen has to move and then I could go Rc8. Also, it releases that weird ghost pin he has on the d-file with my knight. It halts the idea of Qg3 for now because my knight can go to e3. (enter intelligent ideas here.) |

16. Qe1 Rc8 17.Nd5 And so you played like you said 16...Rc8. My Answer Nd5 is nearly forced ! I have to take the Night on c4, but i won´t that he take back with the Bishop. If i play directly Bxc4 then it comes Bxc4 Nd5 Bxd5 ! But in this way i move the Bishop can´t take ! Position after 17. Nd5 |

17. ... Qc6Having my pieces ghost his c2 square and obviously saving the queen from its demise. I'm going to be honest here. I played that move quite awhile ago, and looking back I'm not sure I like it. I assumed he would play 18. Nxe7, but seeing the way he has played it; I think 17. ...Bxd5 was a better move. This move makes my pieces a little too clumpy. Thoughts? |

@myevilluckI think, if I where white, I would attack the king side and first play the LSB on g2 or g3 but your queen on c6 makes it dangerous, menacing Qxc2 +. |

I've come late...I've not been disappointed. The annotated game was quite the sort of thing one hopes for, clear, rather detailed, exposes of players' thinking, and closing with a wild looking tactical melee leading to a friendly handshake. I have a feeling something interesting might be happening here, too. One's first thought is that Black will retake with the Queen at this point. The strike at the c2-square would have to be dealt with by White - 18...Qxc4 19.Qf2, say. But in situations like this, the alternate recapture should always get more than a dismissive glance. I rather like 18...bxc4, as it transpires, striking at the Knight on b3, and opening up a handy-looking alternative route - the b-file - into White's castled King's position. True, b2 is already defended (by the c1-bishop), and White can disrupt Black's castling (for what that might be worth): 18.Bxc4 bxc4 19.Na5!? Qb5 20.Nxe7 Kxe7 Analysis position after 20...Kxe7: w 21.Bd2 (say) Nc5 I don't know about you, but I'd fancying Black's game in this position: rooks connected (but yet to switch operations to the b-file); 'good' bishop potentially raking White's Q-side; even the split pawns on the Q-side have a considerable attack potential. As for Black's King's position, that might prove safer in the centre than castled 'into White's attack' on the K-side. Please let me know, by the way, if anticipating players' thinking in this way is inappropriate in this forum. Cheers, Ion |

18...Qxc4The advantage is, that his pawns on Queenside are stronger in the endgame, but bxc4 is more aggressive, i have to play my Night directly. After Qxc4 i have time to save my c pawn with the Rookmove to h2. In the end i don´t know what is the better move, it is a question of the personal style to play, i think ! So, we now have the Position after 18...Qxc4 19.Rh2 Bxd5 20.exd5 Perhaps i really got more trouble if black played 18....bxc4 instead of Qxc4 |

20. ...h5Anyways my next move was 20. ...h5 . The way I saw the board all the next moves were probably going to happen at some point, but it wasn't assured. In reality, I'm getting into a little bit of a bind, and figured I'd forced the issue on him a little bit to sway the game in a way I wanted and take away some of his flexibility in his pawn structure. I figure my position really has no play at this point, and is just kind of waiting it out to see, if white can pull something special. |

20. ...h5 |

21. g5So i first play g5. 20....h5 is a move born of the idea to avoid the white move h5 ! As i wrote some threads abouve, my goal was the pawn structure f3,g4,h5.... myevilluck stops this goal with using brute force. The h pawn moves a second time, and this move is not shown in databases i know ! Except for Bg5 (Na5 comes later) i see no alternates to the moves 21.g5 Perhaps it is a little stronger to play directly 21.Na5 as ptitroque says ? Here is the position after 21.g5 0-0 22.Na5 I mean White has a little advantage now ? The Night has good Square on c6, the pawn on d5 is save in the moment. It is more easy for White to regroup the pieces faster as black can, because white has more room on the board ! P.S. How can I flip the board ? Pressing on flip doesn´t work ? |

myevilluck losts a lot of games by timeout !It seems this game can´t go on ? He has 4 hours in this moment to make his move ? Klaus |

Incommunicado...Speaking of myevilluck, it is a very apt appellation. Only one possessed of such propensity to misfortune would time out with the Black pieces in a position like this: b White has just taken a pawn on a3... Nineteen-point-something rating points plus to his opponent, who could with justification rename himself mysacredfortune (though to be sure, he did very well to go 50+ moves with an opponent rated 1000 ELO higher...). |
||||||
|
My English is too bad to understand the rest. mysacredfortune is no more on gk ??? |
||||||
|
Oh no!Either way, if he times out before he gets back, you'll be able to continue the game by reinstating it. Losing 250 rating points in a couple days, though... that's really rough |
