Bush 'to reveal Iraq troop boost'
By Justin Webb
BBC News, Washington

Mr Bush has come under pressure to change his strategy on Iraq
US President George W Bush intends to reveal a new Iraq strategy within days, the BBC has learnt.

The speech will reveal a plan to send more US troops to Iraq to focus on ways of bringing greater security, rather than training Iraqi forces.

The move comes with figures from Iraqi ministries suggesting that deaths among civilians are at record highs.

The US president arrived back in Washington on Monday after a week-long holiday at his ranch in Texas.

The BBC was told by a senior administration source that the speech setting out changes in Mr Bush's Iraq policy is likely to come in the middle of next week.

Its central theme will be sacrifice.

The speech, the BBC has been told, involves increasing troop numbers.

The exact mission of the extra troops in Iraq is still under discussion, according to officials, but it is likely to focus on providing security rather than training Iraqi forces.

The proposal, if it comes, will be highly controversial.

Already one senior Republican senator has called it Alice in Wonderland.

The need to find some way of pacifying Iraq has been underlined by statistics revealed by various ministries in the Iraqi government, suggesting that well over 1,000 civilians a month are dying.

Seems to me that no lesson has been learned.
Upon entering an Islamic nation such as Iraq, one should pay attention to similar invasions, in particular the Soviets in Afghanistan. There it was shown that within months of occupation armies of men appeared as if from thin air, where there were no organized groups before, or at least not many.

The Qur'an specifically states the proper way to repel a more powerful nation occupying an Islamic one. Summarized, don't let the occupiers train the people, so the occupying force is drawn into a large economic blunder, and cannot leave without the country falling because of lack of trained persons. The way they're told to stop training, is to consider the muslims who take sides with the occupying nation, infidels. This is why the number of Iraqi deaths is so much higher than that of the USA.

Next, one needs to see how putting more troops into a country after failing at the initial objective of training, is counter-productive. Lets look again at Afghanistan in the 1980's against the Soviet Union. Once the cities were occupied and many troops were added to them, it was time to strike the occupiers, because the trainees were thinning out to a point where they were no longer a threat. If you see how they would starve the cities of water, electricity, food, and any type of in or out going convoys for reinforcements, and wait out the occupiers.

We've already seen this, yet apparently no lessons have been learned.

I agree, but dont think such a view is confined to Muslims. Very few people stop to imagine what it must feel like to live in a " occupied " country. The initial euphoria at ridding the country of a tyrant is soon forgotten and replaced with resentment. Just imagine the USA, Britain, Australia or anywhere else with occupying forces patrolling the streets of our cities, forces that not our natural allies but come from a totally different cultural background.

Japan, Germany and Italy didn't fight the occupation after major combat was over. Perhaps the Allies should take the fight out of the hostile Iraqi's in much the same way it was done in WWII. Beat them into submission. Primiative but effective and just a thought.

By the way, Japan and Germany still have US troops stationed there.

Why don't you just say what you mean. The US fire-bomed major German cities and Tokyo, and then
use nukes. Is that what you are proposing? And you believe Saddam was evil? What you are proposing
would make Saddam look like an Angel compared to you.

what would make you happy............**you do not like christians,**

I only dislike Christians who are full of hate, especially for others such as people who believe in
Islam or Mormons.

**you do not like conservatives,**

Traditional fiscal conservatives, I have a lot of agreement with. It is the neo-cons who anyone
in their right mind dislikes.

**you do not like GOD,**

No, I do not believe in god, so I don't have any feelings one way or the other for a non-existent
being.

**you do not like Bush,**

TRUE, see we do agree on something!

**you do not like anything that I can tell,**

You are truly a wiseman, a seer of all. Are you a clairvoyant or a prophet?

**I think we should be concerned about you there bud.**

I will sleep like a baby knowing that you are concerned about me. But, that is what I expect
from someone full of Christian love for his fellow man.
