Red, White, and Blue.
I'd like to extend an invitation to join my chess team, well it's not actually my team, but I'm on it, and we're called THE Red, White, and Blue chess team.

There is a forum for small talk, team records with a hall of fame, monthly awards, and chess lessons everywhere from beginner to grandmaster(if you can handle it). Apparently these lessons are some of the best. The founder of the team, Recon was a very beloved captain whom passed away last spring, and they have really done alot of the betterment of the team in his honor.

If you're interested, send a request to Viking2 the current captain appointed by Recon himself, and tell him that Soulcrates sent you. I'm sure any Americans here would be more than glad to be around some good ole boys.

Jdh71
is our first recruit!! Thanks for applying Jdh, I was informed that you sent in a request today, and was asked what my thoughts were on you   I obviously said nothing less than you're one hell of a chess player, who would make a great assett to the team. I don't think you're going to get declined. Welcome to the team, a bit prematurely I know, but I have a good feeling you've been accepted.

soul
thanks for the vote of confidence. my old team, who I had been with for about two years, wasn't really
trying to be competitive or foster any sense of "teamness". When I make a commitment, I do my best to
stick with it, but I think after two years, I gave my old team captain time to change things. I even tried to
start a mentoring program there and no one ws interested. So when I saw you recruiting, I thought, "why
not?" - I'd seen the RWaB team page before and had always toyed with the idea of quiting my old team and
apply for the RWaB and since I've given my old team a reasonable about of time to change - here I am. I
am looking forward to playing on a more social and challenging team.

Good to hear!
Maybe I'll win an award for once on the team. I helped mentor a player who added over 100 points, and was in line for a free year membership, but that player was found to be skimming hi rating, which I did NOT teach him obviously, and he was suspended from Gameknot, so our student/mentor team fizzled into nothing, and another team won. I know that recruiting another player won't get me a free membership, but every month there is a vote for teammate of the month, and perhaps I'll make it up on the board. Well, it's not much, but at least I'll feel like I've contributed something. Since my team score is only at 3 or something low, but at least it's not negative.

skimming? how does one do that?

Negative scoress are nothing to be ashamed of if you got outplayed fair and square. I suppose if you
always lost, that would be strange?

Apparently,
he was losing every non-team game, and making it pretty obvious. Well, enough to get someone they he played, probably from a rival team, to report him. I noticed when I started mentoring him he had 70 games, and I told him not to pick any up as he started finishing games, so as to lower his total games, and thus raise his rating. Apparently, he wanted to win more team games, than to raise his rating, so he continued picking up lame games to throw away. Seems people would rather have a lower rating, than a higher one. Not I, I've been trying for 1700 again for some time now.

I've kissed 1700, but not gone above. I will this next year. I just need to put some time into my game. Medical training and a kid have put the kebosh on much of my chess studying. Once I'm finally done with boards, which will be next week, I will have time to spend again on chess.

Well good luck!
Chess is definitely not a priority, when life has important events. Although I get angry when I rush a move and make a mistake, I learn that chess is just a game, and as long as my mind was on something more important, like family, school, work, and friends, the loss is just a temporary drop in rating, and nothing more. Keep yourself focused on that which is most important, and don't let willy nilly games and activities distract you from that.
