Well...Staying positive is a very hard thing to do day after day after week after month after year. What you think you may have lost, I believe you will have gained elsewhere. You may not realize it now. But it is there. I am always happy when good people making real effort succeed. Your writing is excellent. It draws one in very quickly and causes a distinct sense of immediate introspection. Don't stop. Things will continue to improve. Even if the facts don't bear that out--it is still the best mindset one can have. Work is something that helps human beings feel peace. What they get paid may bring satisfaction or elation. But peace comes from the work itself. Keep on... |

By Noel Sheppard | February 03, 2012 | 17:03 It certainly is no surprise the Obama-loving media are doing a jubilant victory lap over the stronger than expected headline figures in Friday's unemployment report. Also not at all shocking was MSNBC's Martin Bashir falsely claiming on the show bearing his name Friday, "Under this president over three million private sector jobs have been created": "If I may just interrupt you for a moment, under this president over three million private sector jobs have been created." -- Martin Bashir, February 3, 2012 Actually, no. When Obama took office, there were 110,985,000 private sector workers. As announced by the Labor Department Friday, that number currently stands at 110,436,000, a decline of 549,000. And this man has his own nationally televised show to lie to the public. newsbusters.org As Chaz asserts, "Perception is truth", and the media is sure working on creating the right perception... this being a presidential election year an all... |

thumperbut if you want an accurate portrayal of what obama's policies have done, you should look at what happened after his policies actually took effect. this is obvious to anyone who actually is concerned with truth and accuracy (clearly leaving you out). obama has been in office 36 months, and there have been 30 consecutive months of job growth. |

Abbott & Costello explain unemployment figures.************************************************************************* COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America . ABBOTT: Good subject. Terrible times. It's about 9%. COSTELLO: That many people are out of work? ABBOTT: No, that's 16%. COSTELLO: You just said 9%. ABBOTT: 9% Unemployed. COSTELLO: Right 9% out of work. ABBOTT: No, that's 16%. COSTELLO: Okay, so it's 16% unemployed. ABBOTT: No, that's 9%... COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 9% or 16%? ABBOTT: 9% are unemployed. 16% are out of work. COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed. ABBOTT: No, you can't count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed. COSTELLO: But ... they are out of work! ABBOTT: No, you miss my point. COSTELLO: What point? ABBOTT: Someone who doesn't look for work, can't be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn't be fair. COSTELLO: To who? ABBOTT: The unemployed. COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work. ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work... Those who are out of work stopped looking. They gave up. And, if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed. COSTELLO: So if you're off the unemployment roles, that would count as less unemployment? ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely! COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work? ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That's how you get to 9%. Otherwise it would be 16%. You don't want to read about 16% unemployment do ya? COSTELLO: That would be frightening. ABBOTT: Absolutely. COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number? ABBOTT: Two ways is correct. COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job? ABBOTT: Correct. COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job? ABBOTT: Bingo. COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work. ABBOTT: Now you're thinking ike an economist. COSTELLO: I don't even know what the hell I just said! |

softyfirst off, it has been measured the same way for 50 years, so comparisons are valid second, the new figures take that into account, and there have been real employment gains. but i understand if it is hard for you to speak of. |

Okay.Let's not argue about it. Let's look at the data. Let's see how much it is being manipulated. And let's not make arguments that are irrelevant like: we have been doing it this way for 50 years, so comparisons are valid. 1. Nobody is comparing anything. 2. You know that in a good economy, the number of people that are unemployed and those that have fallen out of that category is the roughly the same. People don't give up in a good economy. 3. By all rights, Obama and the left have done a good job, and rightfully so, of telling us that this is worst economy since the Great Depression, so let's not get hung up on the last 50 years. Let's look at raw numbers. How many people are unemployed? How many people have stopped looking for work? It should reveal the truth. The comments above (but i understand if it is hard for you to speak of.) or (if you can't deal with fact, let's have humor) should keep the left in line and the right should accept the real numbers because we do math and money better than the L's. dok |

on taxes, and his plan has been shown to make the rich richer. More see Romney as out of touch with average americans. While the economy is bad, as long as trend is overall improvement, Romney is fighting the tide. |

but does not connect well with ordinary people. Slightly more independents think he eliminated more jobs than he created .And his conflicting positions on so many issues are a huge problem. Many believe that he was hurt by his fathers slide from frontrunner after the brainwashed comment and has overcompensated into a chameleon like approach that is too obvious. It will be close simply because voters are polarized and choose lesser of evils but Romney has lost the luster he once had among independents as his flaws became more evident. Most analysts currently give the edge to Obama given the weaker GOP field as long as the economy does not not tank further. That is the wild card, the world economy is still shaky. |

Answers to fair ideasbut does not connect well with ordinary people: Maybe Slightly more independents think he eliminated more jobs than he created: He created thousands, tho it was not his job to do so. Nobody can argue this after fact checking or they would. And his conflicting positions on so many issues are a huge problem: Could be. Changing your mind is not a bad thing. Many believe that he was hurt by his fathers slide from frontrunner after the brainwashed comment and has overcompensated into a chameleon like approach that is too obvious: (Who is "many"?) I think it is just how he is, good or bad. It will be close simply because voters are polarized: Yes and choose lesser of evils: My evil is Obama but Romney has lost the luster he once had among independents: His numbers are going up, so I think this is hopeful on your part. as his flaws became more evident: It will be close. The process is brutal no matter which party. They are all flawed. Obama will get scrutinized and the list is long there as well. It is polarized as you say. Most analysts currently give the edge to Obama: I think that's fair, although "most analysts" is bogus given the weaker GOP field: It always was weak, but Obama is no Reagan or Clinton as long as the economy does not not tank further. That is the wild card, the world economy is still shaky: True |

minimum he's wildly exaggerating now. Fact checkers give him Pinnochios. Romney's state was 47 out of 50 while he was guv...etc. Palin, Gingrich et al are correct that Romney isn't accurate. There is a lot more being added to the 200 pages of dirt on Romney that McCain had every day. GOPers are going to wake up and find that when it all comes out they will be holding their noses to vote for Romney as the lesser evil but he isnt as appealing to middle America as they thought. |
