A way to break the Fiscal-Cliff impass
The Democrats have a history of not meeting their obligation to reduce spending to meet their part of the bargain. How about the Democrats own up and full-fill their part of the bargain and make the spending cuts they have previously agreed to (just in part..... just a token gesture) during the Regan and Bush administrations?

That way the standards is set..... you have to fulfill your negotiated obligations!!!

a way to break the republicans.
The Republicans have a history of not meeting they're obligations to reduce spending. This can be seen in they're huge bush tax cuts to the upper 2% and they're prescription drug give-away to big-Pharma,and in they're reckless 2-trillion dollar War in Iraq. How about the Republicans owning up and fulfill they're part of the bargain and make spending cuts in Defense(the really, really sacred cow) and close all loopholes in the Tax code for offshore 'TAX' havens, and tax deductions and subsidies for the oil Industry and let the bush tax cuts expire on the 'UPPER 2%. That's a much better plan then cutting the safety net that millions of 'AMERICANS' count on.The Rich will still get richer and the other 99% have a chance at the American dream. Or even better/; vote the GOP into political Oblivion where they belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Problem Is The Spending, Stupid
We can raise taxes all we want, the problem is not raising revenue, never has been.

you are half right. spending is half the problem. revenue is the other half. anyone who can only see one half of the equation is doomed to fail in solving the problem.

What spending?
The problem is mainly revenue, with some spending cuts thrown in. Deficits skyrocketed after bush tax cuts.

Clintons way
Taxes went way up in the Clinton administration. The GOP 'said' that it would destroy the economy. And what really happened... 20.000.000 jobs were created .The Treasury soon filled way up and we had a surplus. And the rich still got richer. The key therefor is to stimulate Job growth,by investing in infrastructure. This bull about the top 2% being the job creators is just that..BULL. There is also plenty of ways to cut spending by closing tax loopholes, cutting corporate welfare, go to a single payer insurance system, Means testing, and cut the stupid defense budget.,(stupid)!!!

i am not sure about cutting the defense budget but i have not done any research so i cant have a definite opinion yet. i think that the reason the rich people keep getting richer is that they own most of the politicians so the tell the politicians to lower the taxes on them and raise them on the normal people who cant for the most part afford to have there taxes raised. what is the point in making the rich people richer? it had not been working for a while now. the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

BC: "The Republicans have a history of not meeting they're obligations to reduce spending. This can be seen in they're huge bush tax cuts to the upper 2%..."
--------------------
Taxing and spending are two different things. As a matter of fact it is the essential divide construct of this and endless other issues.

BC: ""...and they're prescription drug give-away to big-Pharma,and in they're reckless 2-trillion dollar War in Iraq."
--------------------
I was against the war in Iraq and haven't spent much time investigating pharmaceuticals.

BC: "How about the Republicans owning up and fulfill they're part of the bargain and make spending cuts in Defense(the really, really sacred cow) and close all loopholes in the Tax code for offshore 'TAX' havens, and tax deductions and subsidies for the oil Industry and let the bush tax cuts expire on the 'UPPER 2%.
---------------------
I am in favor of all sides upholding past agreements. However, I don't recall when in the past Republicans made such an agreement and then failed to uphold their part of the bargan. Perhaps you can refresh my memory.

BC: "That's a much better plan then cutting the safety net that millions of 'AMERICANS' count on."
----------------------
I am all in favor of a reasonable safety net, but lets be honest here, the current administration has, on many occasions, talked about much more than a "safety net," their goal is really income redistribution.

BC: The Rich will still get richer and the other 99% have a chance at the American dream.
---------------------
This is a fundamental problem with your reasoning: you assume that the "rich" and "the other 99%" are competing with each other... nothing could be further from the truth. Wealth is something that can be created... it is not something finite.

BC: "Or even better/; vote the GOP into political Oblivion where they belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
----------------------
Thank you for so forthrightly expressing your contempt for the political right... its refreshing to hear someone so honestly articulate their feelings.
