Military aid to Israel is no different to a multi-billion dollar donation to the US defence industry. It's actually creating jobs, like srs.

this is the website put up a decade ago by Alison Weir. . .
who is described in this manner:

"Alison Weir has established herself as a prominent voice in the anti-Israel movement.
She frames the Jewish State as a violent aggressor in the region and charges that the United States,
through its aid, is the driving force behind this aggression. Weir claims that not only does Israel
brutalize the Palestinians, but through its intimidation tactics, it corrupts the American political system
and prevents criticism of its conduct from being voiced by the mainstream media.
As a result, she contends, Americans are kept in the dark
about how their taxes fund Israeli mistreatment of Palestinians.

"In her discussions of Israel’s influence, Weir employs anti-Semitic imagery
and portrays Israel and its agents as ruthless forces that control American policy
through brutal intimidation and deception."

But shamash, is she right? Are the figures truthful?

The figures are truthful but the figures are also highly selective.

Pro-palestinians love to point out that the ratio of Israelis : Palestinian civillians killed each year is around 1 : 100, however ignore the fact that rocket attacks on Israel occur at a rate of more than two a day.

About 25+ per day between Jan 2012 and November 2012 (according to Wikipedia). Terrible figures on both sides.

I listed the 'article' mostly for the amount of money being sent to Israel in comparison to other places. It would be interesting to find out 'exactly' what the US receives in return ( I doubt we would be told the truth anyway). Also why the US has consistently blocked Palestinian attempts for 'nationhood' within the UN.

It does appear that Palestinians are being systematically removed from their own lands, lands that were 'decided' on mid last century by the British. Do they have a genuine gripe? Are they being persecuted simply for being Palestinian, and being there? I'm sure (well I know) that many could say the Palestinian leadership is made up of 'terrorist elements', but how much different are these terrorists/fighters than those of the Israeli's in the early nineteen forties? Are they simply fighting for their homeland, and the right to live in it in peace? So many questions as to why it cannot be resolved peacefully, with very few answers.

The US receives in return the many billions of dollars in revenue for it's national economy every year. That military aid originates from the cold war and comes with stipulations: buy American or the aid gets cut off. Without the military aid, Israel would likely shop elsewhere and the American economy would probably experience some level of negative growth.

Of course this is where people say things like "spend the money on education!!" which is great and all but huge increases in aviation don't make up for the jobs lost nor the lesser demand for other materials and services which boosts other industries.

Yes, Palestinians are being systematically removed from their lands and this is because Israel is running out of room to live. The west bank is a pretty soft target after all.

I also have no idea how this issue could possibly be resolved.

America adopted Israel !
You can say Israel was like an adopted child, that is, America adopted Israel after second world war when President Truman recognized and established a jewish state called Israel out of Palestinian lands. Mind you, the history is very complex and complcated. I have a mixed feeling for both sides. As an adopted child, Israel, you cannot easily abandon her and US has to continue supporting her. One might argue that as parents, they will not support their children life long because when the children grow up they have to go their own way and support themselves. I think Truman made a mistakes by endorsing a jewish state from the beginning. General Marshall, a Nobel laureate of the Marshall plan for Europe advised Truman not to endorse and create a jewish state because he foresaw all these current problems between jews and palestininians. Gneral Marshall was wise. The alternative is to settle all the migrant jews in USA instead of going to Israel. I agree with musket that there is no long lasting solution currently between Israel and Palestinians.
