this is not new
the christofascists have been doing this for years. where do you think our blue laws came from?sunday alcohol sales are still illegal in many states and counties! wth is that if not an archaic remnant of a moral code that thinks alcohol consumption on sunday is worse because god cares when you booze it up. give me a break.

But is it a real danger given the current state of politics in the US, or an eventuality that can be dismissed easily?

yes
itbhas always been a real danger. i did not mean to say we should not be concerned... just that it is not new.

A Christian Sharia! Scary prospect. Unfortunately it seems as though some of the Republican leading politicians of the future are really into this stuff and advocating same! Best get Hilary elected next time.

Very scary
With the gerrymandering going on I have a real concern at the federal level but the many states passing horrible laws affecting women, lgbt, children, etc. makes me wonder when the non- voters will wake up. I may be naive but I do not believe the majority of Americans agree with the garbage being foisted on us by these state legislations nor the lack of governing in Washington. The Christian Right / tea party are a true threat that needs to be addressed at the polls by EVERYBODY - I can't believe how many people don't vote.

Oh give me a break. Are you guys really worried about any of this? It keeps you up at night? When was the last time a woman couldn't kill her unborn baby if she wanted to anywhere in this country?
