Tony Blair ....the love affair is over.
Tony Blair has today become the latest casualty in the bloody invasion of Iraq.
He has finally realised that the people have well and truly had a gutsfull of him and his on-going love affair
with George. In fact he is so unpopular now that I cant even see anyone buying into his 12 month retirement
plan.... I think he's a goner....
I thought he was a really good leader at first. He seemed an intelligent and very articulate leader.... that was
until Iraq. .. The images of him trotting along behind the swaggering George Bush turned peoples stomachs
the world over...
Do I feel sorry for him? Hell no. My sypathy goes out to the 100, 000 or so Iraqi men, women and children
who have been killed, along with their shattered families.
Somebody is going to be held accountable for this uneccessary carnage, and if I was Blair I'd be making a
quick exit stage left as well.

amen
i have to say that i was almost as sickened by blair's toadying as i was by 'mission-accomplished' and bring-it-on' bush's swaggering arrogant cowboy antics!

quwi or anyone else...
Why did Blair put on the blue dress for Bush? I have never understood this love affair from Blair's point of
view?

KOP...
I am sorry but it remains an enduring mystery to me.... and to the majority of the British people I might
add...

I put it down to ego, plain and simple. From the moment Blair took office he seemed acutely ( I would say abnormally ) aware that he was writing his page in history. Therefore big " ideas " appeal, he was going to conquer poverty in Africa, solve the problems in the middle east, etc.. all laudable ambitions, but Blair was more interested in the posturing than quietly contemplating how to achieve such aims.. Joining Bush in some " War on Terror " was irresistible, it was another opportunity to bestride the globe with the most powerful man on earth.

i put blair's cosying down to america being the big bad bully... britain under blair are like the deputy bully at school... the hardest kid's best mate who struts around behind him pushing over the soft kids to make himself feel hard... it's purely to be the big dog of europe...

i won't be sad to see blair shift aside, but i fear his legacy will live on, and nothing will change...

Did anyone read about the plans for his departure ? He is going to " leave like a rock star " apparently. A tour of Britain visiting the major cities, and " iconic " buildings ( whatever they may be ) Appearances on major tv programmes from Blue Peter for the young " fans " to Songs of Praise ( for those close to departure themselves ) Interviews on all currentlty running chat shows.. and he will be releasing a CD/DVD of all the greatest Blair moments.
I made the last bit up but all the rest was true..well as reported in the Envening Standard.

And to think, poor little Tom Cruise makes Kem feel sick ( another thread )..thats nothing to my reaction to the word B..L..A..I

Your comments...
are very helpful. It's always been a mystery to me. I like the fact that changes in leadership can be made
in a more timely fashion than here. So, the next time I visit Britain (next summer), Bush's lapdog won't be
there.
