complaint thread
regarding the squabble going on in the gay marriage thread. that is NOT the place for it! it will be a major turn off for any prospective members who happen by...not what we want!anyone who posted an off topic comment, please delete it and, if you want, repost it here. I will be going through and deleting all off topic posts at 5pm pacific time on thursday.

2) although the word in question was not very strong, it does meet gk rules for being vulgar.

3) a mod discussion and vote would have been a better and appropriate course of action for a violation of that nature. still, kem was technically within her rights to delete (see item the second).

4) do not post if you cannot keep from devolving into personal attacks. we are here to put our ideas out there to be attacked, refuted, and debated. if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen! personal attacks will not be tolerated and will be deleted without further warning. if someone's argument bothers you, smash it with logic, data, and eloquence!

5) respect one another even if you think their arguments and beliefs are worthless.

questions?

oh, i'm not going to delete any of my comments... i won't gag myself... not unless i think i've overstepped the mark, and i haven't... i'll have no argument when they are deleted, but out of principle i'm not doing it...

Actually,
I have never tried to gag myself, but there is always a first time!

read carefully... i asked folks to delete and repost here if they want...it is not what was said so much as where it was said.

>kem was technically within her rights to delete
To avoid future trouble of this kind I would suggest moderators should not moderate a discussion in which they are actively participating.

I have already posted to the " gay marriage " thread, so I wont repeat myself.
The thread was starting to go off in various directions before the bad feeling emerged.
I think, on balance, it was a well constructed debate from all sides. Perhaps, with nearly 200 posts its hardly surprising that things would eventually become a little heated. A new thread when the subject turned to morality/religion, and particulary the thorny issue of faith, might have helped.

i am guessing that it is a good thing that i had to go backl to page 3 to find this thread. everyone must be happy!!!
