An inconvenient truth?years ago in the LSF, many folks from the US thought the whole thing a myth. What are folks thoughts now? Also was reflecting on how diferent the world and US would be today had Gore actually taken the presidency. Thoughts anyone? |

aargh...I think people who felt climate change was just a myth have finally realized that the entire scientific community (with the noted exception of those making six-figure sallaries to feed the lobbyists their talking points) is telling them that they are sticking their collective heads in the sand. (Put politely.) |

Mark...As you probably know, our PM came under some pressure after suggesting that under a Gore presidency the invasion of Iraq would not have happened.... The biggest scandal down here was during the last election when a widespread campaign attacking Helen Clark's ruling 'Labour party' was found to have been financed by a secretive religious sect known as the 'Exclusive Brethren'.... there were also covert links to some shadowy groups in the US who were also funding the conservatives... Here in NZ we also have a group of conservative business leaders who go by the name of the 'Business Roundtable'... who dont even try to hide the fact that their mission is to influence Government policy.... It was long known that the 'National Party' was in bed with the Business Roundtable.... and then it came out last week that the leader of the National Party, Don Brash, a married man, was having an affair with a leggy blonde business-woman who just happened to be the Vice-Chair of the Business Roundtable. Absolutely hilarious... |

So, I'm with the ostriches. Luckily my wife is an involved conservationist, very much into " green " issues...she can worry for both of us. |
