Jeff..
..its all in good fun. While ever you have the likes of soul on the forum then its going to get lively.

He can't help his restricted view on life or on his thinking capabilities either.

Me, I don't see myself as being in the Cheers bar. I can go somewhere like that in reality.

I'm just fishing. It would be nice to find a few less Midwich cuckoos on the site.

i like...but childish tit for tat is counter productive...it reminds me of my students at school...and it is sunday and i do not want to be reminded of my students : )

***It isn't for everyone if they don't agree with the prescribed views of a vociferous minority***

Regular posters here disaree often enough. Most people lack the verbal martial arts or effort to maintain a
debate here. You do not have to agree.

***Guess what. I don't, never will and the amazing thing is that I can say what I like and there is nothing
anyone can do about it because its the free speech thread!!!***

why would anyone want to do "anything" about it? say what you want - we support that.

***You have peed of dok and echo and the rest but I have decided that I am just going to stay here and
hover in the background. What a tosser eh?***

I can't speak for "echo and the rest" but DOK was not PO'd - we've spoken and still speak and I know his
reasons for leaving. Stay, go, whatever . . .

ditto what jd said. dok left for reasons having nothing to do with the discourse here...we speak regularly. you are welcome here...no one expects you to agree with anyone else...for goodness sake, jd and i get into strong disagreements all the time...yet we still communicate, and get along fine.

I cant work out the reason for the animosity between jaymar and soulcrates ...what started it all off ? Is it a wind-up or are they serious ?
jaymar

Sorry..
..guys. You are believing your own publicity. I have been watching this forum for some time now and it has lost something. jd you have even opened a little thread asking why no one posts outside of a few.

Whether I stay, go or whatever this forum is becoming in-bred and frankly, boring. I'll keep popping in if only to tweak a few noses now and then. But to be honest, it's not much fun anymore. Too many are in agreement and the rest can't be bothered. Its all a bit desultory.

Time for something new perhaps.

Beats me..
..leo. I even gave him a draw a few months back in a game that he had lost with me! For some reason I wind him up.

This latest spat had nothing to do with him but he was in like a rat up a drain pipe. Can't say i'm that bothered. He's cannon fodder.

Ah..
..perhaps that has something to do with it. I'm an aggravating sob.

jaymar...I agree its a pity echo, dok and stinky left us, and we have probably lost some of the initial " edge "...but, from memory, I dont think anyone was to blame. Its still the only club on GK with regular serious conversation/debate, all we can do is hope things improve.
I disagree that we are all broadly in agreement on all social and political issues, there are plenty of subjects to explore that would soon show that we have widely different views.
It is almost certainly true that Iraq and Bush, Bush and Iraq, have dominated too many threads...but those are still leading news items.
Stay around Jaymar, keep posting.

I disagree with everyone. I'm an equl opportunity disagree-ah-er. I lurk a fair bit of the time due to life
pressures etc but I'll pop back up when someone needs to be told thay are wrong
jaymar

Leo..
.. you are of course, correct. Unfortunately even the subjects for disagreement are only done half-heartedly and there is no doubt in my mind that the views in here are skewed.

Its a bit too matey for me in some of the posts and of course when I post something to professor kop I don't need abuse from student soul. However I can cope.

I'll stay around but where is the enthusiasm? I ask anyone to honestly say that they still have that. Its stagnating. Soft. No real cut and thrust. Too many believe the same things. Even the Roman empire collapsed from within and this aint no roman empire.

Jay..Yes, there probably is only half-hearted disagreement most of the time..life is literally too short to get all wound up in our little corner of the internet. But, it passes the time, it can sometimes be amusing, I have learnt ( or is it learned, either ? ) a few things from people in this club and others, and all the guys here seem a decent, fair minded group...most of the time.

Cut and Run!?
The only reason I haven't been posting much recently is that my daughters have gone flatting and they took the computer...
I am not sure what caused the sudden disappearance of some of the other regulars but it appeared to coincide with the mid term elections....
Far be it for me to talk about "cutting and running" but it did look a bit that way to me....

Happy Holidays...
<to the tune of row, row, row, your boat>

Lurk, lurk, lurk a lot, posting only rarely... Angling for promotion, applying for college, I'm sorry this board isn't so edgy.

(Hey, what do you want... it's late, and I've got to be to work tomorrow.)

There are lots of places to find good debate online, Jaymar. We are a small and insignificant... oh, wait, we've done that one before.

The point is, we're all here to have a good time. Yes, we're a bit chummy. It happens. It doesn't mean we can't disagree with great passion and disdain for one another's deeply held opinions... it does mean that we occasionally have to be patient and allow for the fact that real life is more important than cyberlife.
