Hmph
I only use the comma to help separate my thoughts for the little minds. Yeah, that's it.

Well, it doesn't matter if I use a comma before and, and sometimes, it even, works out just fine,

I dont know about anyone else, but I share things with you guys in this club that I would not bring up with work colleagues or people I have known for decades.
Like others, I am new to forum posting..is this a common phenomenon ?..perhaps its just the anonymity that encourages more open debate and allows us to venture into subjects that might be considered taboo in normal everyday circumstances.
Whatever the reason...I like it, even if I hate some of my posts on second reading..I do come across as an old fart sitting on the fence sometimes.

leo
actually, it is a well known phenomenon...when i studied communications as an undergrad, one of the things we learned is that people tend to share the most with those with whom they are very close, and with people they do not know...the stranger on the train phenomenon.

even though we are not strangers, we do not ever see each other. i think this accounts for our willingness to share and disclose more than we otherwise would with aquaintances.

Jaymar
***I think jdh had a pretty fair hearing. Apart from the usual suspect who always goes over the top it didn't
turn particularly nasty. It was obvious that there would be no conclusion. jd has his beliefs and they are not
going to be shaken in here. Mainly it was within the rules. Which just goes to show that you don't need
religion to have a moral code. I agree with him in that I was taught never to discuss religion or politics in
polite society. However it would be hellish boring round here if they didn't come up now and then.***

I agree I had a fair hearing. I'm not crying foul at all. My purpose here, outside of my interest for
discussion and toughts, is not to convince you, you are are wrong, nor am I necesarily trying to prove
myself right. I am merely trying to make a defense of my faith on the grounds that it is not an illogical and
rational position, meaning there is a logic and rational to the position and human convention and thought
about the subject has never been enough to cause God to completely disappear. The God position can be
held without checking yoru brain at the door. That's my aim here. Morals sans religion is actually one of
the more powerful arguments for the existence of God   I'm glad we've decided not to be boring, because
that would be boring

<Morals sans religion is actually one of the more powerful arguments for the existence of God  > nice. it is also one of the more powerful arguments for the lack of god. honestly...i very much respect a belief in god. most of my friends and family believe in god (although not my wife...thank god : ). it is more religion that i have issues with....just so tired of the use of religion as a rationale to harm and as a tool of control.

Leo..
..I expect we all have that problem. It's very difficult to strike a balance sometimes when posting.

I think quite a lot of the posters in here are unbalanced   Myself included of course.

Jaymar,
I agree that you're correct, but just simply posting here, and taking the heat when it's dished out helps to alieviate that. It seems we're not only hear to teach, but to learn also. If people are afraid of change, they won't post. I give respect to each and every one of you that have the intestinal fortitude to duke it out here with the rest of us. Bravo people. Keep bringing in your uncommon facts, and sometimes arguable opinions. We thrive on knowledge and need other views to be brought forth and discussed.

What did I misspell?
Crap, I hold that as one of my strengths. Wait. . . I don't see anything, are you pulling my leg, jaymar? Is this just a ruse to make a small putdown towards Pawntificator? I'm not a grammer expert, so there is where I'll make plenty of mistakes. I'm going to end this sentence with a preposition. See?

Why do you use SPELT?
It sounds so backwoods. Like West Virginian spoken word or something. Spelt is a European plant, and is used as spelled. No wonder people consider English one of the hardest languages. Each word has multiple uses.

pawntificator
08-Dec-06, 19:12

OK, I'll start with a hard one
This one is for Soul...spell onomatopoeia....onomatopoeia.

Shoot...this isn't going to work. OK, I'll say the word fonetikly and you can spell it from there.

OK, soul, first word: prossulatism.

Oh forget it.

By the way, jaymar
<<Oops thought I was pawn there for a minute.>>

I don't even know where to begin. This sentence is so grammatically atrocious that I had to cry before I could face it. And now that I'm here, I have neither the stamina nor desire to correct you. You have successfully destroyed all of my hope in the future of humanity. LOL, ur 2 much, k?

BTW..
..I am a decorated speller.

I have a Victoria Cross for spelling above and beyond the call of duty in the face of the enemy.

I also have a croix de guerre for saving french spelling and the congressional medal of hono(u)r for services to spelling during the civil war. (I am very old).

I have an oak leaf cluster. That's another story.

I am a world champion speller. I float like a butterfly spell like a bee. While others talk, I spell. I can spell a hundred words in under ten seconds.

I can...enough. I think I will go lie down for a spell....NO STOP IT.
soulcrates
09-Dec-06, 02:21

that's hilarious.
Only Jaymar picked up my suttle comment about my honors in the field of spelling. My PHD, so to speak, of spelling. Once I spelled a word that I won a spelling bee with, backwards. It caused an elderly teacher to pass out, and hit her head. She got a purple heart for it.

What is..
..this? A US secret weapon in the space race that has been revealed! The Space Suttle? Or is it the same as the shuttle but a bit cheaper due to cost savings on paint?

Subtle, really subtle.
