Fraternising with the enemy.....
I am curious as to what Stinky and friends would consider a suitable punishment for people like the 200 or so in this video who fraternise with "evil" empires like North Korea.... www.youtube.com

Just because the leaders of a country have an "anti-American" stance and/or policy does not mean America rejects the country and does not try to improve relations.

Just because American leaders publicly voice statements that are contrary to another country (even calling it a country that is an "axis-of-evil") does not mean there are not efforts behind the scenes to improve relations.

Sometimes there are talks and activities going on at lower than "top levels" behind the scenes. Sometimes all it takes for relations to thaw are a Ping-Pong game, or possibly a music concert.

My
computer is too slow to look at things like this. When you say "enemy" are they actually the enemy? For instance I wouldn't consider an Iranian student who wants freedom or change the enemy, simply an Iranian. Now an Iranian who wants death to America and would strap a bomb on himself (or herself) and kill innocent people to make their point would be the enemy. As far as I know we are not at war with anyone but terrorist at the moment. I think your understanding of mine and others feelings about the "enemy" is even simpler than I imagined. I am not a warmongering conservative nut job. Who doesn't want peace?

I think Qiwi was just being funny, implying that a philharmonic playing the US anthem in North Korea is like fraternizing with the enemy.

The joke would have probably landed better if the link went to the NY philharmonic playing the North Korean anthem.

I have no problem with communicating with the enemy, so I guess I can't be involved in this bit.

You are right. The NY Philharmonic playing the NK national anthem is probably more to the point.....
The reason I referred to it in the first place was that I watched an excellent documentary about their visit to
North Korea on the Arts Channel last night and the thing that really came through for me was that the
average North Korean would love to see normal relations between the two countries.
Deep down I think that might even be Kim Il Jung's sentiment as well, although admittedly, if it is, he has got
a hell of a strange way of expressing it....

Mark....
I think "inscrutable" is the word they usually use.....
b.t.w. Does anyone else see the irony in the fact that Kim-Il-Jung / Jong-Il-Kim / Kim-Jong-
Il has a collection of 20,000 movies of which the James Bond series is said to be his
favourite.....
I was thinking maybe he has watched the Peter Sellars classic 'The Mouse that Roared' too
many times....
