My Uncle Fagin was a betting man.

Legend has it he would even bet on a fly walking up a wall. He would use gambling as a means of injecting significance into things, a significance that was arguably missing in his life otherwise.

He was also a drinking man. When, one day, he stayed too long in the pub, my Auntie Nan was sick of waiting for him at home. She had cooked his dinner as usual, but as usual he had not returned.

This was the final straw. She grabbed his plate, with roast beef, spuds, yorkshires and gravy, and she marched down the pub with it, slamming his tea down on the table in front of him and his drinking mates.

The story goes, he looked calmly from her to the food and back up again and, looking her square in the eye (although I doubt very much he ever looked anyone square in the eye), he said, blandly:

"You forgot the salt."

Salt is important, as are the odds on whether a fly will reach the ceiling by walking alone.

WOW, what a story!
I bet my bottom dollar that man was a genius, except
that people just don't understand us.

[are we looking for 'more universal' unimportant things? ... or things that are just unimportant to us personally? ... just for clarification]

(This should be quite obvious. I'll take a moment to assist, however; naturally, these "things" are going to be personal. For instance, I often read 'yesterday's news,' on the train as it makes time go faster... So, 'yesterday's news,' is important to me.. Also, an empty mailbox is very important to me as no mail equates to no bills, etc... So, to reiterate, these "things" we deem unimportant are quite personal. And how!)

Does it really matter if personal, universal, political, financial, confidential, classical, volatile
internal, external, industrial, or mutual to all or some? Should we not focus on our own
opinion without making it an issue, or should we start on a new thread so we can air out
all our animosities, superstitions, inhibitions, motivations, peculiarities or eccentricities?

unimportant
This thread seems important to some of you.Wy is that?
the-sigularity

I do not see this as either (important or not).
It is however, amusing.
Was that not the intention?

Exactly, stealth-invader... It is suppposed to be amusing, and it is. The intentions of some who interrupt the natural flow is questionable.

(Can we please get back to having fun in this thread? I was only trying to help/answer your question that you posted after I made a 'country music' reference... I was only trying to acqueisce your inquiry...)
