Who wants to live forever?
Would immortality be a nightmare rather than a dream?

Even if you could wish for eternal youth, with the health and wealth to enjoy it, would an eternal life be a curse more than a blessing?

Is there anything you could imagine doing, even in heaven, that wouldn't drive you to distraction after a few millennia?

Always a new number I never used before.
Other then that....Who knows?

nightmare
The person who has immortality will still suffer knowing that he or she has
too see his/her love ones perish. The is punishment enough !

Is like being a good vampire.

Money, health and eternal youth can't bring life to family and friends .

The majority of the population want to live. Providing one is healthy and has enough to afford an average lifestyle i cant see any reason to voluntary kick the bucket

Hi Neph
Counting, you kidding me? Could you even count for week solid without going nuts?

Rilke, I'll grant your loved ones eternal life too- and I reckon after a few thousand years that seeing them perish wouldn't seem such a bad idea...

Miffy, while I agree that your average lifespan is not nearly enough (I think I'd like about 700 years on earth instead of a measly 70), I also think that we would be also queuing up for voluntary suicide at around 7000

Eternity is a long time!

Not really sure eternity IS time.
"We bury people at 75 who died when they were 50".
As long as there is a better reason to live then die,I think I go on living.
When I get to be 80 I will probably be a diferent person, and probably my way of looking at things.

with a wink ;)
The current lifespan is to short

The world we (i) live in makes it short
12 years going to school to educate for your future
45 years of work to provide yourself with food home and health care
add 4 years of freedom childhood 0 to 5 and you are 62 in the end and then you have a average of 10 years left to enjoy your old days.

I think that sucks I like to at least double the max age say 150 years...( if i may choose i would pick immortality whiteout even thinking.. )

I hope to reach to 99 years at least.. I also know that 33% of your life is wasted by sleeping 8 hours a day..(33 years of your already short life).
I am sleeping only 4 to 5 hours a day for almost 27 years now.. and i hope to sleep only 26% of my live (25.5 years) so i already have almost 8 years more time then the average person.

Wanting to live forever, all depends on what life that will be.Who can say about that?
We all want a meaning full life.Whether short or long.
But with immortal life, what would you Americans debate?
