Absurdism
I subscribe to this philosophy that the efforts of humanity to find ultimate meaning in the universe ultimately fail (and hence are absurd).

According to absurdism, if such objective meaning exists, either intrinsic meaning, or from the gods, humans can never know it.

"I proclaim that I believe in nothing and that everything is absurd, but I cannot doubt the validity of my proclamation and I must at least believe in my protest."

Camus

Rejoice, for life is absurd!

Communism
Though the term “Communism” is shunned by much of the western world, most of the world adheres to several of the ten planks of Marx’s Communist Manifesto. Here is a brief overview of the ten planks:

1. Abolition of private property
2. Progressive or graduated income tax
3. Abolition of inheritance rights
4. Confiscation of the property
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State by means of a national bank
6. Centralization of communication and transportation in the hands of the State
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State
8. Equal liability of all to labor
9. Gradually equalizing distribution of the population over the country
10. Free education for all children in government schools

Dadaism
Closely related to Absurdism, this "Anti Art" movement aimed to shock and bewilder the audience, maybe as the artists reaction to the horrors and futility of the 1st World War.

They hoped to destroy traditional culture and aesthetics, with irreverence and love of the random. (Hence the childish name, Dada) Dadaism laid the way for surrealism, pop art and punk.

Here is a photo of Duchamp, at a chess set designed by honcho Dadaist, Max Ernst

Egalitarianism
The political doctrine that advocates equality of rights in the social, economic and political aspects among the citizens of a society. The French revolution of 1848, was the epitome of fighting the rights for the citizens to reach this natural right.

The famous painting of Delacroix shows the famous words: Equalite,Fraternite & Liberte!!

Globalism
Global market, Global economy, Global village, Global policeman Global thinking for Global issues like Global warming...

Maybe not for a while, though. Way too much nationalism and anti-european feeling in the UK for my liking. When most people here want to pull out of the EU, then maybe it'll be a long haul till a central world government...

I can't wait, me, for the first world leader... hey, isn't that supposed to be the antichrist?

Hedonism
It gives me great pleasure...

Hedonism is the philosophy that pleasure is the greatest good, perhaps the only good. We are pleasure seeking creatures, and will do anything to minimise our suffering and maximise our pleasure.

Spare a thought, though, for the anhedonics, who cannot experience pleasure.

Igtheism
I learnt this word only recently, and I have found it an extremely useful concept.

It means ignorance regarding theism, and is closely aligned with atheism

Igtheists consider that unless a coherent definition of God is presented, the concept of God cannot be discussed, and the question of the existence of God is meaningless.

Since the word "God" means totally different things to different people (even within the same faith, sect and church), it is possible for the sentence "God exists" to express many different propositions (like God is unknowable, God is Love, God is anthropomorphic, etc.)

Put very simply:

An atheist would say, 'I don't believe God exists'; an agnostic would say, 'I don't know whether or not God exists'; and an ignostic would say, 'I don't know what you mean when you say, "God exists"

Keynesianism
Keynes was a C20th economist who suggested that the government should stimulate the economy during economic downturn- "spend your way out of a depression". Sound familiar?.

He emphasised an international approach and co-ordination of his policies and the need for international economic institutions.

Obama quotation:

"the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan won’t just throw money at our problems – we’ll invest in what works. The true test of the policies we’ll pursue won’t be whether they’re Democratic or Republican ideas, but whether they create jobs, grow our economy, and put the American Dream within reach of the American people." <ahem>

Lesbianism
A neurological disease promoted as 'normal' by pipe-smoking feminists, in order to to unfairly discriminate agianst men of whom they have penis envy.

The word is descriptive of women who haven't found the right man yet, and of their sexual and romantic desire for each other.

Only joking. 'Lesbianism' is archaic, and a bit like saying 'Heterosexualism'. But hey, it's a great word, with much wind-up potential.

The majority of lesbian images in the media are produced by men, for the male market, and are consequently stereotypical, one dimensional and also innaccurate.

As a frequenter of LGBT clubs, I can vouch that real life lesbianists [sic] have a lot more tattoos, piercings and facial hair than the ones generally seen in the media. They are also a lot more interesting, and scarier too. Real people, in fact!

Nihilism
The doctrine that advocates that our moral values are falsely presented to humanity. The Russian novelist Ivan Turgenev mentioned this view on his novels, including "Fathers and sons". Kierkegaard, the father of Existentialist proposed such doctrine in a different way.

Also Dostoevsky, advocates such doctrine on his famous novels "Crime and Punishment" and "The Brothers Karamazov".

Perhaps we are more familiar with the German Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, who firmly believed on man's false beliefs on morality in our society. Nihilism was part Nietzsche's great writing such as "Thus Spake Zarathustra" , "The Gay Science",etc.

Existentialism has been linked with Nihilism; and great novels has been written from Albert Camus (The Stranger, The Rebel), Paul Sartre (Nausea).

Derrida is also has been connected with the doctrine.
