This should belong in the chesscoaching club but seems like the people here are more active than those in the other club. If your looking to improve your chess tactics visit this website.

www.chesstempo.com

The best thing about this website is that it provides slow and fast tactics unlike emrald.chess.net which only gives you fast tactics only solved in a very limited amount of time.

I'll have to
try that a little bit better. The interface is a bit disturbing (unclear), but I guess you'd get over that.

I joined too...
its a good site!

I like my current blitz rating there, 2000+, what I will never reach here on GK  )
I'm more familiar with interface of emrald.chess.net (Im iceblue32 there), its more clear, but after few days of playing in chesstempo.com I get used to its interface too. Its not a problem

Only thing that I don't like is: first move is played very very fast, immediately after skipping to next problem.. it would be nice that you can see it more clearly, like in emrald.chess.net, where you also have few seconds for preparation before "opponents" move..

thanks bunta for sharing this site  )

You mean chess.emrald.net? I have quite a lousy rating there then, compared to yours!!!

yes, chess.emrald.net, i wrote it wrong.

looks like that im pretty good at blitz chess then   and this is probably the main reason why my rating here on GK isn't higher. i play too fast and most of my opponents play slower and think. this is correspondence chess site and im forgetting it all the time. silly me. i definitely have to change approach and play more quality chess.

all in all, those tactics training sites are very addictive... and very useful.
if I spend some time there practicing middlegame tactics before making moves here on GK, I noticed (and Im not the only one) that those tactical elements simply pop up more often and more clear in front of my eyes. If only this effect could last longer lol

I'm not sure of their usefulness
On chess.emrald.net you're getting a random position in which the 'virtual opposition' plays an even more random blunder move (in most cases). It's up to you to find within three seconds what kind of silly error they made.

Chesstempo.com is interesting too, while doing about 1 in 2 exercises incorrectly it says that I have a 2300+ 'Blitz' rating!?

Stats for blitz
Problems Correct: 49
Problems Wrong: 48
Percentage correct: 50.52%

Sure it'll help you recognizing unsufficiently protected pieces, unsafe King's position etc. more quickly. But don't expect real opponents to make the same sort of silly mistakes.

sorry
the site was chess.emrald.net not emrald.chess.net that takes you to some business related website lol. but yes the interface does take a while to get used to.

Sicilian
Hello to all. I am in need of working through basic opening knowledge and have opened a mini-tourney for lower rated players like me to work through Sicilian.
Best wishes.
