Alekhine?
1.e4 Nf6

I've played this opening for 2 years but lately I've been thinking this is kind of a not so good opening, anyone got suggestions or even another opening to play with black?

It is a perfectly acceptable defense, as long as you understand both the strengths, weaknesses and strategies behind it. It all depends on your style of play, and if you like to work from the position that the defense provides. Alekhine's Defense creates imbalanced positions from the start and is great for aggressive players but can leave black with little room to maneuver if you wait to long to develop. The one downside that most people would agree on is that black lets white cross over to his side of the board to early with 2. e5 with no significant advantage for black by allowing this. One advantage black does have is that this move can cause white to overextend and not be able to defend properly.

I agree with antagonist, but the problem of the defense is the knight situation after 2.e5 Nd5
3. c4 Nb6 4.c5 etc. the knight loses tempi and is hard to get him a good place. Otherwise, the advanced pawns are quite easy to attck and harder to protect. If you can get to your knight a good place, White's space advantage will not be suficient to stop you.

I play it off and on,but I think the Alekhine is a very good opening if you like and are willing to counterattack your opponents position.

I love the Alekhine and play it often. I know I have to be extra careful because there are a lot of variations. bob
