English / KID ?Everybody ok ? Is there someone in this club who is willing to teach me some basics of the English opening, and the Kings Indian Defence ? I'm willing to play several unrated games, and also have time available to learn or read some books.. Thanks in advance, Geert |

I'm WillingI need to learn some solid openings as well. One of the guys who is trying to help me out suggested that I try the English Defense, so I would be willing to play a few games to see how it works but I don't really know that much right now. So, if you can't find anyone who already knows it I'm willing to just play a few games and then chat about how we did. I'm in. ~madik |

EnglishI've just started to pick up the English Opening (white perspective, I believe English Defence is black playing b6 against 1.c4). I was feeling annoyed that I didn't know exactly how to respond to this opening in blitz against a member of my club, so then I began to play it myself! I've bought Tony Kostens book on it and I recommend it dearly. I've not yet studied it in detail but I've been all over it. So far the book is very good, explaining ideas and concepts. You can get it cheap at amazon if you buy a used one (good as new!). |
