Consultation Game!
In the club "Club Morphy", they have discussed, queried, and put forth a "Consultation Game". The forum at gameknot.com talks about how they decided on the format. Essentially, they decided to play a game where a team of several people would play against a team of several other people. Each team needed to "vote" on the move to make through messaging. I do not know how "public" the messages are, but the current game they are playing is fascinating.

Is this possible for us and specific opening repertoires? Might a group of die hard Najdorf defenders play against some on offense who may be anti-najdorf? (I would definitely play with the defenders!.) Of course, I would really like to format a plan with others using the Benko Defense!

If you have a chance, follow the link and see what these forward thinkers are accomplishing! Let us know in this thread! joe

I am in Club Morphy and basically we are playing club versus club. Each club has a post in the forum to post thoughts and votes, and clubs have vowed not to look in each other's forum post. We are also playing a club versus player consultation game if you would like to check that out as well. In both we have an actual game(unrated) running to make sure it goes quickly.

I would love to challenge another club to a game. Shall we? We can then vote for our club's move.

Club vs. Club -
Great ideas and suggestions. At first I thought to annotate to share info, but annotation is exclusive to the individual player, not a group. I do not believe Gameknot has provided an option for more than one player on a side. So, hbird may have the only solution, a forum to discuss moves. But I sure like Club vs Club, yet with a hope, that we find a club like "Morphy" who's theme involves some openings?

I would volunteer club morphy, but with 2 consultation games going on at once I do not believe our players have time to do a third right now. We are still sort of working out the kinks in the system as well. Maybe the Knights of Honor Chess Club (club morphy's club vs club opponent) is up for one.

I am sure that the Knights of Honour Chess Club - of which I am a member - would be very glad to receive a consultation challenge from the Club for Chess Openings.

However, I think that the Knights of Honour Chess Club is much too busy to accept such a challenge at this time - we currently have 3 consultation games in action - one against Club Morphy, one against tekoahbaer, and one against fatcat2 (me!).

The one against tekoahbear is actually against me since he has taken a very long absence from gameknot, and it is a forced checkmate in a maximum of 3 moves. So you might check with the club captain to see what he says, it can't hurt to ask.

Club Challange
From jbravo58d

Hello, chess4him!
Hello. I am a moderator for the chess club Knights of Honor. We are currently playing a collaborative club vs club game with Club Morphy . We are really enjoying the challenge, and thought you're club might like to compete against ours in a similar challenge. Please check out the link (gameknot.com), and let me or my club founder Jim (gameknot.com) know if you are interested or have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jon

Anyone interested? Let me know!

Me too
Like dungeonking, I'm in all three clubs... I probably wouldn't participate due to the simple fact
it would be so confusing to me.

It never got started due to lack of player participation. You can join either of the other clubs if
you want to play a game of this format, both of them have one or two running.

Consultation game interest?
If anyone in this Club is interested in Jim's offer of a consultation game, please post your interest here or send me a message. We can still work some details out, like the length of time or whatnot.

Sincerely, Joe

From tennesseehiker
Hello, chess4him,

Would you consider having your club engaging in a club vs. club consultation game with the Knights of Honor Chess Club? We have done this in the past with Club Morphy with much participation from members of both clubs.
A consultation game is one in which two or more players play one side of the board against the opponent(s).

RULES:

-We will start with a 3 day time limit to suggest moves, have the discussion, if needed, vote and post the move.

- pawnstar2010 will serve as the moderator and post the club's move on the actual playing board. He will break a tie vote based upon the discussions made.

- Please make all move suggestions, rationale, discussions and votes on this the club vs. club thread. If you would like more time to discuss the merits of different moves, request additional discussion time. Some moves will go directly to a vote, others will be debated. Time lines are: move suggestions within 1 day of the posting, discussion in the 2nd day of the posting and voting on the third day of the posting. pawnstar2010 will make the move on the 3rd day.

- As we go through this, feel free to post ideas on making it a smoother process. Post any questions you may have to the club vs. club thread as well.

-An actual unrated game will be initiated between pawnstar2010 and your club's moderator demonstrating the moves that are decided upon. This game can be referenced for analytical purposes.

-There are several KOH members who are also your club's members. Ask those playing for your club not to view the club vs. club thread at our club, and I will ask the same of the KOH club members who are also a member of your club.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Best, Jim
