A little difficult to read according in that sentence. However the rest was easy to read. I think I may have come across that study at some point. May have read something about it somewhere on the net. With limited data the human mind is indeed very good at filling in the blanks. However it gets us into trouble sometimes when the mind makes the wrong conclusions from limited data. I personally can only see 3 F's unless you count the one in the question.

And that is also why flipping the board annotate games and setup a real board with a position is a very good training for your mind. your mind will learn to see things from a other perspective. And once your mind is used to it you start to see pins forks traps and more without you needing to stare a hour at the board.. it evolves slowly. And there are still 6 F,s you must count again they are there it is only so that the mind cant process it. because it has filled in the blanks without reading them. but once you know what it is you will see it every time... A other example. Wen a cinema movie is playing and there is act change. ( means the tape needs to be changed for part 2 ) there will be a notification in the movie to alert the operator that is is almost time to change... i guess most of you never have noticed it but once you have seen it you will see it every time. it is a dot or a mark in the corner of the movie for just a split second. ( usually just before a break) you mind has to learn to see it before it sees it..

Anyone that does not see all 6 f's it is because you are missing one or more of the "of" the problem is your brain thinks of "of" as "ov" because of the pronunciation causing you to skip over them.

Board Flipping
The board is good to flip since one can see the game from a much different perspective and it can help one see the board and pieces from a different angle. Then again, one can't do this if playing live opponents but it is helpful in this type of forum and I think it can make most players see the board a little differently and help to improve their game. It's training your mind and eyes and eventually flipping the board may not be necessary. Andy
