The house of Strategy
I have made this thread as a place where all players can improve upon their strategic game.

Here you can post annotation, openings, tactics used to implement strategy and anything else
relevant.

My game
The first game I want to show and discuss is gameknot.com

My reason for posting this game is to showcase the power of a strong outpost.

Another point
Another reason for creating this post is that personally, since I have found that I like to play a
slow strong strategic game I have found my play much better and more importantly more fun!

I would encourage any beginner intermediate player like myself to figure out what sort of game
suits their personality. This makes it very easy to find good moves! I would be VERY interested
in giving (to anyone trying to break 1300) and receiving coach towards strategic learning.

this is a good idea, we'll see what will become of this thread

about the game : first, I don't understand why kippenvel played 8....h6 instead of taking your bishop with his bishop and after that winning a pawn.
21. Kd2
Wow, didn't expect that, that is quite a doubtful move.
your king is exposed in the centre, but on the other hand, black cannot really attack your king, but I also didn't see the purpose of Kd2.
I also have to say that I am impressed by how you completely dominated the game since you won the bishop on a6. you completely penetrated your opponent's position. traded queens and a rook and outplayed him totally. Well done!

21. Kd2
The purpose of Kd2 was to open the back file for my rooks, I had to break through somewhere.

Undermost circumstances I would agree that this is a very dangerous and foolish move, exposing
my king. However, there is no room for mechanical thinking in chess, and since I could see no
possible way for black to effectively threaten my king I decided to move him.

Another
This game, while not nearly as poignant as the first, illustrates how good positional play forces
opponents into tight, unmanageable situations which result in blunders and ultimately defeat.

21.Kd2
See my comment in the annotated game. The move is sound enough, in that Black can't gain from the King's emergence into the open. I presume White had already decided to seek the breakthrough on the Q-side. Nothing wrong with that. As I remark there, I would probably have inserted the undeveloped knight somewhere deep in Black's position, centralised the rooks, and then looked for the breakthrough plan. I was envisaging a breakthrough - probably a sacrificial one - in the centre, but haven't really explored the practicalities of such a method. The plan actually chosen proved irresistible - slow, but with the absolute certainty of death and taxes.

My game
This is one of my games which I annotated, I'd appreciate if you looked at it and leave comments!

...somehow your links aren't working (I can access the game of sonata296 from this thread easily enough). Would you like to check your notation? I accessed your first annotated game though your profile...
