Tournament VI Announcement and Criteria
The KOH Tournament VI is scheduled to commence June 15. Unlike Tourrnament V, six (6) tourneys will be offered rather than four (4) tourneys. Moreover, this time the first five tourneys will restrict the participants to a rating range; the fourth (5th) tourney will be open to all members.

The six (6) tourneys will be as follows:

Starter’s Tourney (400 to 900 rating) – points awarded
Minor Tourney (900 to 1200 rating) – points awarded
Intermediate Tourney (1200 to 1600 rating) – points awarded
Major Tourney (1600 to 2000 rating) – points awarded
Master’s Tourney (2000 to 2500 rating) – points awarded
Open Tourney (any rating) – no points awarded

Tournament VI will also be thematic; each tourney will present an opening theme. If you intend to participate in a specific tourney (without obligation), you will have the opportunity to vote for one of ten (10) common opening themes of the tourney in which you wish to take part. Indicate the tourney(s), [for example, one of the applicable first five (5) tourneys in which you are eligible to participate along with the Open Tourney] in which you wish to play along with your preferred opening in the “Tournament VI Themes” thread. I will summarize the results on June 1 in succeeding posts of this thread. In the event of a tie, I will present the top openings suggested. I will break a 2nd tie should one occur (with the assistance of an upper rated member based on the difficulty level of each of the available tourneys ranges in rating).

Also, the club now consists of 285+ members. Let me know by posting to this thread if you would like to help me copy/paste a tournament notice (which I will provide) to the number of members you specify. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. The notices will be made around June 10.

Sicilian
If it is offered in the tournament, I would greatly appreciate playing the sicilian, since it is an opening with many variations, all of which will come out in the tournament.

Delay in Tournament VI
Due to unavoidable time constraints on my end, I am going to delay the commencement of Tournament VI to August 15. I appreciate the responses made thus far. I will take your preferences into account when the tournament unfolds. I especially appreciate your willingness to help relay the tournament to our club's members, untateve.

catnight's Marshall Gambit. Ruy Lopez.
Any System Black wishes to play after 3.Bb5 would be ok to play. The
Marshall,zeitzev,Breyer,Berlin.etc.These are the most studied positions in chess. Full of rich
positional and tactical ideas. I would love to play in a thematic ruy lopez tourney.
