Chess League and Chess Ladder
Has anyone in this club been or still is a member of the Chess League and/or Chess Ladder? If so, will it help one in his or her chess skills, games, tournaments, and team matches? Do you suggest that people join a Chess League and/or Chess Ladder? Have you found these helpful? If so, how much have they helped you?

I wonder these things because I have discovered them but have never joined any of them.

Chess ladder is alot of fun. You have to be careful though, because if you don't keep your game limit full, people with heavy ratings will come along and play you just to advance quickly (this happens in League, too). But if you say you only want 6 Ladder games and then challenge out 9 games or something, you dictate who you play.

I was in League for a little bit and hated it. I think GK's League format is a bit pointless and should be restructured because the Ladder came along and is a lot better than the Leagues in my opinion. The best feature here is still the team function.

Any avenue you pursue that leads to more games against a wider variety of opponents will help your skills and such. Are the games harder? I don't think so. Perhaps some are even easier because players on these ladders tend to focus on their team matches rather than their ladder rank. And this is because a loss on the ladder drops you one position. League losses, from what I understand, are much more costly, so maybe they are harder.

Yep,
I agree with jj414, the chess league is less fun than the chess ladder.
The fun thing is that you can try to work your way up by challenging people that are ranked higher (until 1/10 higher than the total players on the ladder).

You get to play all sorts of ratings: the higher, you learn, the lower, don't take them to easy or you might lose!!

You should try the ladder jkarp, it is fun and if you don't like it, you can always withdraw.

What happens when a Chess Ladder and/or Chess League is in progress? Does it also go under My Games?

jkarp
What do you mean? Where the games in progress will be shown? If so, they will be shown in "My games", yes.
Or do you mean your stats? If you mean that, you will be able to get an oversight by clicking on the chess ladder/league that will be shown on your profile. I am playing in the chess ladder, you can check it out on my profile -> doji.

Actually, I figured out the answer to my question, it is like any other chess game.
