Guaco Piano Opening The Guaco Piano is very similar to the Ruy Lopez Opening. In fact, I like the Guaco Piano almost as well. For Ruy Lopez, 1.e4, e5 2.Nf3, Nc6 3.Bb5 are played. Therefore, white's LSB attack's blacks c6 knight. For the Guaco Piano, however, 1.e4, e5 2.Nf3, Nc6 3.Bc4 are played. Therefore, white does not immediately attack black's pieces. As a result, the Guaco Piano and the Ruy Lopez have slightly different variations. Jack Stockel has a slight preference for the Ruy Lopez over the Guaco Piano, and the Ruy Lopez is still my favorite opening. However, the Guaco Piano is my second favorite opening.
