Chess Beginners
As we all know, at one point, I was a chess beginner. Less then two years ago, my rating sub 900. Therefore, I know what it is like to be a beginner, so I want to help chess beginners. As a result, I have started by looking at their annotations and adding comments. How many comments do I add, the equivalent to annotation from Experts and Masters. That is because I like to study games from strong players because that is how I learn. Now, I get involved, and sooner or later, I want to become a better. In fact, pretty soon, I am probably going to mentor the chess novices, some people whose ratings are below 900 (shortly after I complete my mentoring games.) Why? I care about chess because it helps me with many things, outside of it, including my job. Now, I realize that if I could help chess beginners to improve their game, I might also be helping with their future. In fact, I believe that it is feasible to mentor people, while being mentored. Note: I always have optimism that chess novices can improve.

That's what I love about this club! Intermediate to advanced level players willing to help those with lesser skills improve their game play. Kudos to you, jkarp!

Believe or not, I started coaching. In addition to what I had mentioned, there was something else, that got me interested in coaching. What is it? Well, there is a player, whose rating is sub 800. In most cases, I am not worried about their chess skills because I know that people can improve, as I mentioned in my previous post. However, there is one exception. That is because in addition to skipping chess basics, the person resigns, for reasons that I cannot even figure out. For example, she resigned, on her third move. There was another game where she gave up, in a winning position, after having been better developed, and exposing the opponents King. She tries something, that she learned from an opponent. Why? Because, this is how the opponent, but her same attempt, costs her the game.

If that's not bad enough, she is a free member, so she cannot join any clubs. In addition, most strong players cannot even give her a coaching or mentoring game because free members do not have any control in their, "automatic challenge decline rule", and her rating is sub 700, at the moment. However, I am, probably the highest rated player, that can play against, and actually mentor her. Therefore, I am trying to mentor her and have challenged her to a coaching and/or a mentoring game. If she gets coaching and mentoring, I believe that she will improve, and can eventually a minimum of 1000 (above beginner status).

Believe it or not, the person that I was alluding, in my last post was goldmedal20. I challenged her to a coaching, but she declined due to computer problems. After she gets a new one, however, she will accept the challenge. That is what she told me. I decided to annotate one of her games, in order to help her. It's basically a coaching and/or mentoring game, but in an entirely different form. The annotation is shown below. gameknot.com

BTW, I have a recent coaching game. BTW, this is the first person that I have coached, and his name is flutie39. The annotation is shown below. gameknot.com
