I am
As you probably remember, less then 2 years ago, I needed a coaching game. And, I got one, through this club. Well, now I am interested in coaching or mentoring people, for those that wish. I am willing to coach and/or mentor people whose rating is less then 900. That is because I want to give people encouragement, as I had mentioned in a previous thread. The thing is, however, that I am keeping my automatic challenge decline rules set at 7-14 days per move.

I normally don't announce that, but it would be very difficult for the student and I to play a game, if the time control is less then 7 days per move. It is especially due to the fact that I have a full time but am more then happy to teach, when I am off duty.

@phyrexianrook: Your post is the first I heard of levels for chess coaching. I'd like to hear more info on that, if you will.

Fit the bill?
"if you are interested in finding a coach and/or mental"

....well....I don't know about a coach.....but I certainly am mental!

@phyrexianroook I would also like to hear more info on levels for chess coaching, particularly as I see you're a fellow Aussie. Was that certification through some national accreditation body?

@tipsyjourneyman
What type of assistance for improvement in chess does a mental provide?

@stealth
Oh a plethora of assistance can be rendered by a complete mental like me. To give some examples, a mental like me will assist any budding chess player in developing the following abilities:

The ability to increase one's rating whilst increasing one's BAC (still working on that, it seems to go back as much as it goes forward).

The ability to adhere to the ol tipsy adage, "When you find a good move, look for a better one. Then, make a crazier one."

The ability to consider any game which has not resulted in mate or resignation by the 28th move absolutely prosaic (and a waste of good beer).

The ability to consider draws purely as things for storing items and not applicable to the game of chess. (He he he, I like my puns.)

The ability to consider any opening as White other than e4 less than manly.

(For those confused modernisms.tripod.com look up mental and combine definitions 1 and 2, add some London Dry, stir, do not shake, pop in an olive and done!   )
