Patience
In some of my past games, I have gotten impatient, and that has caused problems. In some cases, I have actually lost, due to lack of patience. The thing is that, "patience is of a virtue", in chess. If your impatient, you will do all types of crazy things to correct the blunders, and that can cause more trouble. In a recent game, I was very lucky to pull win, when I lost patience. At first, I was loosing, and got kicked around the board multiple times. However, I was lucky because my opponent made more mistakes, and that is what allowed me to pull the win. What would have happened, if he had not made so many mistakes. I probably would have lost the game.

in general. . .
and there are SO MANY exceptions
that it is imprudent to generalize and then to make a move
as if the generality is a principle -- it's not -- ;
however, in general,
since chess is an attacking game,
patience tends to be more of a protective virtue in the endgame
(where the placement of pawns with the potential for zugzwang is an issue),
than it may be in the opening phase.
