This is the first time I have played White against the Sicilian Najdorf (I normally play 2.Nc3 to avoid the main lines). game

brigadecommander 25-Jan-10, 14:31	thanks doji for posting my game!!!!! My opponents rating at the start of this game was 2101. For some strange reason he dropped over 100 points in two weeks. My team capt says some team members do this to get 'kills' against weaker players in team matches! If so this is a very lousy thing to do. In any event his USCF rating is well over 2200. The first game in the match was a draw. I was a little intimidated by his Elo so i played it safe. I should have let him have it in that game too as i outplayed him with ease...janet

untateve 29-Jan-10, 03:51	Something that would be helpful-- If some of our stronger players would annotate their games and in their annotations, discuss the positional ideas behind their moves. This is where I feel I'm having trouble in my games and need to focus my learning. I've finally got my game count back down to a manageable level and have started studying again. However, I review some of your games (e.g., freddy, antagonist, brigade) and I simply don't know why you made some of the moves you have made. If some of you had time to do so, I think that this could help many of us in the club improve our game. I'm aware that this would take up a certain amount of your time but you would become my personal heroes and I'm relatively certain that these efforts would be greatly appreciated.
brigadecommander 29-Jan-10, 04:27	untateve's request i wish i had the time to annotate. But i am simply swamped with four Math classes. Not to mention Biology and History. As long as i keep up with my studies i'll be ok' If i had time i would be playing 15-20 games at once and my rating would be much higher. However when i can i will start annotating. best wishes untateve!...Janet ps...easy19 is a better annotater anyway.
untateve 29-Jan-10, 05:09	Thanks for the response... janet. I would say to anyone who is considering annotating, don't worry about the quality of the annotations. Simply, I feel many of us lower rated players would just appreciate learning about the positional ideas/concerns considered when making a move.
antagonistknight 29-Jan-10, 14:12	untateve's request... I will annotate mine it may be a few days before I finish, I think I left my notebook with my game notes at work and I have been out sick... I can try to do it without it but with so many games I may not remember all the exact moves I considered apart from the move I actually made.

untateve 30-Jan-10, 06:19	antagonistknigt please, take your time. speaking for myself, your effort will be greatly appreciated. As I play higher rated players, I have come to realize that I am having great difficulty seeing their plans as well as formulating my own plan. While I still make tactical errors (although that is improving), it is the positional ideas where I'm really lacking. Additionally, I recall freddy posting that it's more important to learn positional ideas and the tactics will follow.

Speaking on behalf of the club's lower rated players, I personally think this would be a great way to improve ones skill-set / tactical maneuvers, which is one of this club's goals. I might even try my hand at the process myself.

antagonistknight 31-Jan-10, 10:09	Annotated GotM I decided to go ahead and annotate the game after looking at it this morning, it may help the judges see the reasoning behind the moves to. I must first say that I tend to be very tactically minded with an overly aggressive style (which can lead to positional weaknesses in the long run) and it shows in this game where I relied on my strength of tactical calculation to overcome a tough opponent. There were a few "positional" moves most notably 13. Nxc6, but positional play is not really one of my strengths.
