Move 15. Nxe5
We have 2 choices here . . . Nxf2 (exchaning our knight for a rook netting 2 points) or Nxe5 (netting 3 points as our knight would then be protected by our queen). My vote is for Nxe5.

Move 15
I vote for 15...Nxe5

Material
If we play Nxe5 we equalize the material remember our opponent has already taken a knight.

3 - 3 = 0

If however we take the rook instead of the knight, white wins both our knights for a rook.

15...Nxf2 16.Qxf2

(5 - 3) - 3 = -1 so our opponent is ahead by a pawn.

Going back to my post for the last move 15. ... Nxe5 is best.

15...Nxe5 is best. Black will also have to contest the open D-file.

. . .
Don't be so hard on yourself, doji. You are only one person, and I know from my own experience, one often gets bogged down with responsibilites outside of chess. We really appreciate all the time and effort you put into this and other club challenge.

My Vote 16...Rfd8
Rad8 is also good but i like to keep that pawn covered.. so i go for the less obvious move.

16. ... Rfd8 is best as easy19 suggested.

My Vote 16...Rfd8
...even if i would not be personally so worried on doing instead: 16...Rad9.

Test my vote 16... c5
Rfd8 is not a bad move. Test the following for me..16..c5 17 Bxc5..Qxc5. Or 17 BxNe5 .. QxBe5 18 Bxc5 .. Qxc5.
antagonistknight
16-Nov-09, 10:28

That will not turn out the way you are expecting, here is how it would turn out most likely 16. ... c5 17. Qc3 f6 (forced, otherwise we lose our knight and queen for white's queen)18. Qxc5 Qxc5 bxc5 and white will continue to trade down to a drawn endgame.
