KOH Club Scholarship Program
Though the initial KOH scholarship program failed miserably in many respects due largely in part to its lack of participation by club members, it has resulted in enabling several deserving chessmen and chesswomen to secure training and camaraderie over the past two years. Therefore, I have decided to re-implement the program using different standards by which to measure its success.

Thus far, the club has awarded four individuals with prepaid premium memberships to the Gameknot community requiring little more than club affiliation and participation.

The following four members have received scholarship awards of varying terms:

greygan (formerly jambrose):

He received a one year Gold Membership awarded November 2008, and he was nominated by me.

tygloalex:

He received a three month Silver Membership awarded December 2008, and nominated by tekoahbaer.

alexmootoo:

He received a one year Gold Membership awarded January 2009, and he was and nominated by eqj2.

svetozar551:

He received a two month Silver Membership awarded November 2009 which will possibly to be upgraded to a Gold Membership in January 2010; he was nominated by me.

Future award recipients are scheduled as follows:

pinkbobblegirl:

She is scheduled to be awarded a one year Gold Membership in May 2010, and she was nominated by utrync.

7angels:

He is scheduled to be awarded a one year Gold Membership in November 2010. He has been nominated by me and several other club members

I plan to make two additional awards each year based on a number of factors including the worthiness of the candidate and his/her location, for example. a third-world county. Minorities and women will also be given special consideration.

I am happy to fund this scholarship initiative on my own accord, although rogubravo has contributed to an award given, and he has promised to continue his generous monetary offers based upon certain criteria pertaining to eligible candidates.

Thus far, few members have taken advantage of this initiative. I encourage our membership to submit nominations from time to time along with a short explanation as to why your nominee is deserving of such a reward.

The Knights of Honor Club is now 200 members strong, the second largest club at Gameknot. I am convinced we will soon take the lead in size, and I strongly and confidently believe this club to be the best one offered for people who want to improve their chess skills and strategies.

Best, Jim
