Rating floor~
Just now seeing this new feature... please tell me it hasnt been there long..

What is the purpose of this and how do you think it differs from your team rating.. are they keeping track of team vs other games?

Hope everyone is great!

Ah well - it helps to go through all the messages first I suppose. (been gone for awhile)

Seems a good feature -

I like it, means I wont be setting up any 1200 players with 1800 players

Yes grege79, that is true, less 'false ratings'! Only, suppose you have a top rating of let us say 1401. 1401-200=1201, round down is 1200. Suppose you are afterwards on a (serious) losing streak, you can't go under 1200, although your real rating at that moment is lower.

But, we can't have it all, can we?

It's only as of here and now tho right? As in - past records wont effect i?

...so keeping our eyes open for those with compromised ratings is still a must. It will take awhile I think to see the benefits... but - I'm thankful GK has done this.

Who is protected by the rating floor?
I posted this on our team forum on Nov 18.

This was the first paragraph in the Gameknot message:

"We've made a couple of small, but important changes to the rating system, that won't affect the vast majority of players in any way, but definitely might help some of you in the future."

So, who does it protect? Premium members, of course ........ with many many current games!

Example: player rated 1650 with a 1400 floor, with 50 opponents average rating 1650. player goes to Hawaii never to return - 50 timeouts = -500 rating points which means the adjusted rating would be 1400 (instead of 1150 before change). In this example the player would have to have over 25 games or the floor has not been hit (or basement, Iky, for clarification).
