Duplicate team pairings?
This is the second time I have paired a teammate with the same player for a team match. The game is underway but my teammate has not made a move yet. I'm thinking that the answer is "no" but can the 2nd pairing be cancelled without penalty? Should I suggest to my teammate that he offer draws or bite the bullett and play the games? Thank you for your response. Mike (Kings of the Castle)

Mikemate
I think there is no way to cancel the game, once you (or the other team) approved a challenge. I would suggest that your team mate bite the bullet and play the games. It happens regularly with our team mates too, that there is a double team pairing, I try to avoid that, but sometimes, when another team answers a challenge and has a good pairing, but another that I thought of and a double pairing, I do approve the challenge. Never had any complaints about that.

Thank you, jo. That is what I thought but needed comfirmation. Our player is not really complaining but is new to Gameknot and just did not want to play the same person again (they are very early in the first match - moves 6-8).

Ha!
Before I became a Captain, I once got 6 games at once with the same opponent and went on to drop 5 of them---a momentary set-back but I got over it----Captains are human---lol

Yeah, I've done that, particularly with the higher-rated players. I think I have also had one of my players to play 6 team games with a same opponent on the same time, it sucked. I try to be aware of the possibility of repeat match-ups, and check the past game history for my higher-rated players before finally confirming the challenge, however I wish there was an alert system place for that. Records
Wouldn't it be nice if when a challenge is matched and before it is approved or denied, that we could see matched players record against each other and if they're currently playing?

Well there is a way to check a players record against an opponent but it takes a little work. If you know the rating of the opponent, go to your players home page and click on "rivals", then scroll down to the opponent's rating and if there is any history, it will be shown. Making matches is time consuming enough so I never bother. Good luck-----penndan

Although it's a simple matter...
...to tell if a player has a current game or games going with another player. I would like to know their record of wins, losses and draws together. A short time ago, I received a complaint from a player whom I assigned a match. His record with his opponent was 0-7-0. I would have had to look through hundreds of games to discover that.

Sorry pennsylvaniadan
I was thinking past games list when you clearly wrote rivals. That does make it easier. Still, I'd like it right next to the proposed pairings.

You can do that with past games list as well, sort by player name. But how much effort can a Captain/co-Captain put forth? That is why some of these "little things" would go a long way to assist us in the pairing process.

Record against opponents
As discussed previously in another thread here, I periodically update an Excel spreadsheet with active team games and completed team games. Creating a PivotTable by opponent and teammate then allows me to scroll down a list and see 1) if an opponent is currently playing a teammate, 2) the record of my teammate against that opponent 3) other teammates that opponent has played and the results of those games. It takes a little time to keep the list updated, but less time than looking up the results for each potential opponent via the GameKnot results list. If you would like any further information on this method, just let me know. Ro

Having the information on any past or ongoing games between the players in the team challenge confirmation screen would certainly be useful. Regards, MaCa.
