...The only thing that we have used them for is to sign up for team tournaments. |

I post team stats on the forum, announce new members, etc. There is "Math" discussion on the forum. (Math jokes, trivia, etc.) We have one thread that has 264 posts on it. What my team did was play a game within the team, using Forsyth-Edwards Notation (fen). It worked out really good. Very good training and discussion. We recently just started out second "team game." The team votes on the next move. I really like having the team forum. |

Mine is finehere are a few tips I do to keep my players involved: 1. I organize them "best checkmate" concourse. Lower rated players love it. Nominations you can check out here: teambulgaria.s4.bizhat.com 2. Every month I post a report on the team performance. 3. Registration in the forum is mandatory. A new member must at least introduce and say "hi". 4. Organize polls and invite players to vote. Good luck. |

Team ForumsI have about 4-5 players that use if frequently - and then it's usually me talking to myself.. hehehe I do report on team games, where we rank etc... but that changes so darn fast. Within 5 minutes of me reporting we were in 1st Place, we dropped to 3rd. Go figure... I started a you know your addicted to chess when.. and that brought out a lot of funny stories...! I did write up a time out policy - and it also became a place to address a fight to the end or just resign in your games... that was really interesting. Came up because I saw some of my players being harrassed for not resigning etc... Anyways.. See ya out there! |

Non paying members and the forumsIs anyone else interested in another united attack on the gameknot management over this one. I don't mind doing the correspondence but as a newbie perhaps it might be better coming from someone else, in which case, I'm quite willing for my name to be added to the list of folk complaining. Please let me know what you think. |

I was wondering if you know if there is a way to start a mini-tournament, by invitation only, no points, and UN-RATED? FA |

I believe those games are rated games, that is the setting I usually use for mini-tournaments for my team. 7. After withdrawing from a mini-tournament, you will still need to finish all games that have already been started for you (i.e. no active games will be cancelled). All remaining unstarted games will be recorded as lost in the mini-tournament table, but will not affect your rating and stats. The mini-tournament will still be marked as active until you finish the remaining games in progress (if any), or for the next 30 days (whichever occurs last), during which time it will count against the number of mini-tournaments you can participate in at the same time according to your membership. The key phrase in the rule above >>but will not affect your rating and stats.<< Leads me to believe they are rated games, all of my pasted team mini-tournaments have been rated. What I want is an UN-RATED mini-tournament "switch"/"selection box", so especially for team tournaments among our selves, we can turn the games into teaching games, be able to make any and all comments on them in a forum setting, without worrying about violating rule "3.You may not use chess engines nor chess computers to help you decide your next move. You may not consult with anyone nor ask for advice about any of your games in progress (nor provide such advice to other GameKnot players about their games in progress, whether solicited or not). You may analyze games with chess engines after they are finished. You may consult chess books or game/move databases at any time." of the Rules of Conduct. |
